i use my dedicated server and vps to host my servers lol

i use v4guard for ddos prot

since both my vps and dedicated server just block ALL incoming packets on a ddos attack

for several hours

If someone wishes to pay for single server it is very much doable, I see absolutely no issue with that if someone knows what they are doing

For smaller community absolutely no point in wasting money, many hosts offer comprehensive ddos protection anyway

well if you put everything on one server, you pay more for the single server, but if you have several servers they dont need to have lots of ram or cpu power because they run less things and have less players because its distributed on the entire network

Again, if you have a smaller community and actually good quality host , it can work

i have a small community and i own a dedicated server + vps

idk like maybe it could work if you only have 2 gamemodes

but at some point you will have issues especially since minecraft is single threaded
