I attempted to redeem the card on Amazon today and it said that the card was invalid. Turns out the card was from my sister, and she says it was a gift she received in a work "secret santa" and decided to re-gift for the family party. That would be fine and dandy buuuuut.....

I contacted Amazon customer service and provided them the code at which point they told me that the $25 balance was refunded to the customer who purchased it.

TL;DR: Best I can deduce is that someone purchased a $25 Amazon gift card for a work secret santa exchange, then cancelled/refunded the gift card back to their credit card, which allowed them to participate in the secret santa exchange and receive a FREE gift. Only problem is they didn't fuck over their co-worker, they fucked over her brother too.
