I think Unreal Engine 5.7, either now or as a future update, is a good idea. It's especially useful for working on open worlds and is supposedly much easier to use than previous version.

Unreal Engine 5.7 empowers you to build expansive, lifelike, high-performance worlds filled with rich, beautifully detailed dense vegetation; author and render physically accurate layered and blended materials with true visual fidelity; and light complex worlds like never before.

You’ll also experience smoother and more intuitive animation a...

Facial animation would be useful.

Everything else seems like just to show offfor Trailers and would never work on more than 15 fps in Full Game.

#

Those preview builda graphica look incredible but ii assume they will never work in game. They were there when UE5 released

Problem is: when you update the engine build all sorts of stuff can break, from quests to graphics. What that means is if they updated now they would basically revert the project to alpha and need to redo all the testing and polishing, meaning another 6+ month delay.

For G2R I believe they will do some calculations on what is cheaper: all the man hours spent adjusting to the new engine and fixing issues with assets and what not, or paying the SpeedTree license. Also the overall engine bugs which they have to work around.

They will also take into account the performance of Speed Tree vs the performance of the new tree system in UE, as G2 is notoriously forest-y and there's no point in making a G2 which runs at 30FPS on high-end systems.

And on top of this maybe dozens of things which don't even cross my mind.

"They have done the world already"

#

Yea, Ark Raiders did their game already, but they change from 5.5 to 5.7, too.
Because they love their game and are proud to deliver to the community

#

Quote from Ark Raiders Lead: "When the game came out, it didn't run very well. It still doesn't run as well as it should, frankly, but we're up about 50% performance-wise over the initial release of the game on the same hardware."
This is the type of honesty and passion for performance i want to experience with Gothic 1

#

Not for Gothic 2, not for Gothic 3, but the first game

#

And be it with a future upgrade

#

I want to hear them say "sorry that we couldnt increase performance by 50% until release, but we're working hard on Patch 1.1 which will deliver the UE 5.7 upgrade"

#

Why?
Because that’s what awesome studios do. (See interview above)

Now that I think about it, I believe there is a chance of them implementing 5.7 post-release from a mod-kit perspective. They stated during the last PGA that the mod-kit will be the focus post-release. Right now the mod-kit would need to license speedtree for the vegetation, which is an extra-cost, but with the new tree generation UE supports, then that would make modding a lot easier from a financial point of view.

Yeah i agree i think that's will be great if they update the game after the release

I know that many ppl cant wait for G2, and would be happy enough with G2 having better optimization. I m not one of them

PB never bothered growing past 30.

That's true but the game at the release After 1 year was full of bugs

Can you immagine Khorinis?

for me it will be incredible

yes i agree with you, however updating to 5.7 NOW means AT LEAST extra 3-6 months of wait time before release. i dont trust those claims for "up to X times more fps with this new engine version" since its different from game to game. for example gothic might get 30% more performance or it might only get 5%. so yeah, post release patch, i m all up for it. but personally i wouldnt wait for another half a year for the release. i've worked in unreal before and i m sure 90-95% of it will work just the same just by ONLY updating to 5.7 but to take full advantage of 5.7 features they need to change lots of stuff which will then NEED bug testing. and with the performance.. i know what you mean and know the state of most games nowadays is crappy performance wise, but i feel like sometimes people just expect to have entry-mid tier pcs at best and be able to play the newest games at over 60fps ultra, considering that graphics are advancing faster than gpus. i for one have a ryzen 9 3950x and a rx 6600 (non xt) and the performance in the demo was acceptable for me. i cant be delusional and expect parts which are 3-5 years old already to give me more than 45-55 fps at medium settings in a new game at 1440p ultrawide. even if the game will be more taxing (which im sure will be), i can always just go to 1080p.
