So, first some positive feedback in an extra post (before criticising the combat system and so on): I liked the idea of the Gamescom demo, as a showcase sandbox for the combat system - despite the presentation by Reinhard being... unfortunate. The statues providing different builds was a good idea and I liked the new things we saw through that. It's a bit sad we didn't see the ending with Ian, but maybe this will still be provided, at some point, or it is in Hänno's third stream, idk. Anyway: Fun meta dialogue with Diego, in the beginning.

Also, magic mostly looked good and several of the monster, armour and weapon designs and, like always, the landscape was beautiful. I also have to praise the level design, here, as everything is contorted, again, like in the original (mostly G2), lots of mini locations, caves, little sheds and so on... loved it. The weather is also great and I like how dark the night is.

And at last I absolutely love the soundtrack. Kai really did an awesome job, here, and I consider it the best aspect of the remake, at the moment, and even if some things will not work as intended or might somehow disappoint, in the end, then I will still be able to listen to a new 4 hour Gothic soundtrack. That alone makes the remake worth the effort

Also, it's great, of course, that we Germans can again listen to Christian Wewerka's voice as the Nameless Hero ❤️
