I'm fairly new to modding so I just need some help/guidance. I am trying to create a standalone version of Heolstor's Moonlight Greatsword to act as a replacer for DMGS in Elden Ring. I have found the chr files for Heolstor and unpacked all of them with WitchyBND, but none of them will open up in Blender so I'm not sure if I have to keep unpacking until I find something that Blender can use or if I'm just doing something wrong.

There might also be a standalone parts file corresponding to the weapon but I couldn't find anything in Smithbox and I doubt it exists since it isn't something equippable by the player.

You will need to Export the model as a fbx in smithbox

Then you would need to create a new parts File in elden Ring just copy paste a vanilla one and give it a unique name

With unique name i mean an unique id so the number

If you would want to replace anims get more modding expierience bc its really difficult

That helped a lot thank you. I'm not worried about animations, but I do want to make something where the DMGS L2 changes the model from the metallic version in his phase 1 to the magic one in his phase 2.

I mean you could change the effect but if its a different model then it wont work

The issue I'm running into is I don't think there is a model file that exists seperate from the Heolstor model itself. I have exported that along with all the textures for the greatsword

Yes you would need to extract the model from the heolstor file

So I have the chr file and Souls Model Tool, I just don't know how to convert that into the fbx file for Blender, Smithbox didn't really have that option

The .exe for it just opens up a config window and dragging the file onto it like with WitchyBND doesn't do anything

I imported the fbx and was able to select the sword seperately from everything else

Yeah Smithbox doesn't have an option to export as fbx

It doesn't look quite right tho. so I am wondering if I am missing a seperate model that is supposed to overlay it

There are probably better ways to do it than the vid shows

Also, it looks like the game does indeed use two seperate models for the phase 1 to phase 2 transformation, as the fbx file has two different models for the sword

so, as far as I can tell, the phase 2 sword is technically a new model, but its the same base with new textures added onto it

I followed that tutorial as close as I could, it didn't work at all in game

okay, so, as far as i know the .flver file looks completely fine, however it is still invisble in game
i used the DMGS flver as a template, deleted all the meshes and materials from it and left the bones, then imported all of mine
i also tried importing a .json for the bones just in case, nothing

I'm going to test it as a different greatsword replacer and see if that does anything
