#Elden Ring/Mod engine 2 not working
72 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
is steam running and do you own a legit copy of the game there
also running as admin should not be necessary unless you've done weird things with permissions
which itself is a common issue of mod engine problems anyway
legit copy and steam running i really dont now why is dont work
for info works with an old version of mod engine but the mods are not loaded
log say: [2024-08-08 17:29:55.608] [modengine] [info] Destroying
turning off admin is what you're supposed to do, you might have to edit your .toml and .bat file to point them to the right folder if you have a nonstandard install
bro i have install game on steam
you have a modengine2 inside the modengine 2 folder
copy everything from modengine2 to the Game folder
turn off admin for ER exe
should work
like that ?
sorry bro im dumb
so like under Game there should be a mod folder, the modfolder2 folder, and the modfolder 2 files (it's confusing)
i have multiple mod setups so i renamed my bats, so just ignore the different name
ok just like that you have the repack version ?
i have nonstandard install on my d drive instead of the steam path
but it should be the same structure under the Game directory
I mean modengine doesn't even need to be in the game folder to begin with, and preferably shouldn't be
if it works like that and not otherwise, there's something weird with your windows permissions or who the hell knows
but worth trying I guess
I guess doing it like that also allows you to use the modengine launcher .exe method rather than the .bat
if you don't ahve the typical C drive steam install modengine2 doesn't know where to look in my experience
aha, you have it on the F drive
yes
you need to change your .toml file and .bat file
i change bat but not the toml
sample .bat
chcp 65001
:: The above line is necessary in case you edit this file to lead to a path with Unicode characters.
.\modengine2_launcher.exe -t er -c .\config_eldenring.toml -p "D:\Games\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe"
i would change --game-path to -p
another video i hope you like it
your path in the bat should be F:\steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game\eldenring.exe
make sure you're on latest version of me2 and ER, and eldenring.exe admin is unchecked
Mod Engine 2.1
is steam running in the background?
sorry, I am not sure what is the issue with your setup 😦
you could try reinstalling everything from scratch
Thank you very much for your help I will try one last time
you're welcome, fingers crossed for you 🙂
me too
Your external_dlls is missing a comma
Dont put me2 files into the Game directory there is never a need 😭
in my experience that isn't true, besides, does it hurt anything to put them in the game dir?
ME2 was explicitly designed to stop people from fucking with the Game folder so they could run multiple sets of mods at once.
Hi I just tried game mode again and as said above only the version that works for me is an old version of mod engine so I took the recent files with the old bat i just need to test if a mod works with it
I succeeded thanks to everyone for the help the solution was not to put mod engine in the game folder but on the desktop why no idea
🥴 what
I just got around to testing this, and in my case modengine works just fine after moving the elden ring install to D:\steamlibrary instead
dunno what it does under the hood but it seems to autodetect the location anyway
so I really don't know why it doesn't work for some people
has to be noted that I moved the install properly via steam's option, if you just cut and paste the folder somewhere random that doesn't follow steam's folder structure it may not actually work
