#Dark Souls 3. Adding, changing elemental effects for weapons with its original skills and move set.

Hi everyone, I am new to modding. However, I have already familiarized myself with programs like Yapped, Blender, UXM and some others. I would like to learn about the possibility of adding or changing the type of elemental damage when using special techniques of certain weapons.

For example, I would like to add some kind of elemental effect (fire, dark, magic, etc) to Gael's sword when using a special technique, preferably during its use.

In Yapped, I was able to partially realize what I had in mind by changing the techniques of Gael's sword and Lorian's sword. Gael's sword now uses the Sword of Lorian technique and continues to burn after use, and I did the same with some other techniques with elemental effects (the Onyx Blade technique, putting fire on Profaned Greatsword's enhanced strikes, and the Straight Sword of the Ringed Knight technique), which means that the effects can be applied, though sometimes it doesn't look or work very well. However, normal buffs with elemental spells or resins apply just fine, even on the integrated Wolf's Gravestone, and everything looks adequate to the original set of muvs of the chosen weapon [Gael].

Yeah, I just want Gael's sword to use some sort of effect, but preferably only when using his special abilities, like Profaned Greatsword, during boosted attacks.

Alas, I could not achieve anything other than what I described above, perhaps this program will not give me such an opportunity, and have to climb into the files of the game, but still I understand that there is a way out, take for example the same "Convergence", this mod has a bunch of original sets of muvs, and with their own effects, and perhaps it can be done in the files of the game itself.

I hope my questions on this topic will not seem to you through too simple, nub or obscure, I just do not even know where to start, I do not know how difficult it can be realized, but I have not yet found on the forums or here such questions, and the answers to them may be and there are. I've been trying to figure out the features of Yapped for a while now, but other than replacing special moves and hit types I haven't gotten anywhere.

First off, stop using Yapped and switch to DSMS which is far more powerful and more supported

I believe in dsms, there’s a damage parameter, and you’d simple change the type of damage there

so you want to use gael weapon art and it will apply the flame buff to the weapon or just change the damage to fire, like lorian weapon?

Again, it’s best not to use Yapped. DSMS is far more superior and widespread

Yes, of course I have c0000.anibnd open in DSanim. Now I have two questions:

1.The first one is how exactly can I access the same options you have in your screenshot? 🙂 Yeah, I haven't figured that one out yet.
2.Second - how does DSMS help me find the animation I need in DSAnim? It's just that I'll probably have to edit something from Blade of Peril into DSAnim anyway. I'm just trying to follow BloodHunterEileen's advice, which mentions using both programs.

First click on "edit" and "collapse all TAE sections" this will make everything more organized so you can find the TAE you are looking for

then u go to TAE 263 and boom, there is what you wanted

I strongly recommend using DSMS, there you can edit everything in an easier way and it is also simpler for me to help you

Hey, what are you talking about? 🙂 As for my post here, not really yet, I haven't had access to a computer for about a month. I did manage to experiment a bit with DsAnimStudio before that though, trying to add a new effect for Gael's sword (I want the sword to burn when using an ulta), but so far to no avail. Yesterday I finally went back to exploring the program, trying to do something again, found this good video, although "Scrub Milk" adds a slightly different type of effect, I learned a lot of useful things. However, I still can't do what I wanted to do. I posted my comeback to show that I haven't abandoned my idea yet, mostly for those who have spent their time answering a bunch of my questions here. Maybe there will be questions again soon 🙂

I'm in the process of writing what I have, I tried to transfer a few events from Lorian's sword special attack animation to Gael's sword special attack, but so far nothing has worked, nothing happens with the sword in the game at all. As I write, and I write a lot, [Or maybe it’s really completely unnecessary, just about how I wasted my time trying to do something myself.] i keep thinking about what you told me about adding a Cartus fire arc event during the animation. I might be able to implement that now, say with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_iY2efZLmU&t=178s The problem is that I don't know the ID of Cartus' fire arc, and whether it would work in SpawnOneShotFFX, it's just that Scrub Milk did a slightly different thing, namely just a circle of darkness around his character from some spell, and that was Elden Ring, not Dark Souls.

And here it is worth saying that the sword of Gael, his first part of the special attack consists of 6 duplicates of the same animation, by the way each duplicate has its locked identical copy, that is a total of 12 animations. Between all 6 duplicates (+copy) there are very few differences, one or two events. Special attack continuations have no duplicates, but have their own copy. Lorian's sword has no such thing, only his special attack is split into two separate animations, [as in the game] - a fire buff and a lunge with a wall of fire. There are no duplicates or copies of these animations.

Also if you want to Carthus Fire Arc match the WP duration, u can duplicate the speffect, change it's ID to be different from the original and edit the Duration to whatever you want
