#converting DSR mappieces to FBX

I've downloaded the Aqua tools library which specifically lists converting the flver files to fbx but all I can get it to do is spit out 2 JSON files and an xml file. No FBX. I have downloaded a separate tool that converts the flver file to SMD and I've been able to import said SMD file into Blender, but it's mangled all to hell. Wondering if anyone has some experience or tips on playing around with DSR models. Ty in advance!

soulsmodeltool sadly spat out the same xml and 2 json files. you can also use the functions of soulsmodeltool inside of aquamodeltool

I just drag and drop the .flver file onto souls.exe and it converts to .fbx

My experience is shown in this diagram. Blender breaks bones and weights, dsfbx mocks when importing. The lighting of the imported model is broken, I still can't fix it xd

lol, 3ds breaks the lights, blender doesn't. In general, I exported and imported the model successfully.

it's so odd that I can't get the FBX to be generated at all. I'm dragging a flver file straight onto souls model tool and it refuses to do anything. super strange

I'm using the latest release of the aqua tools library so not sure if a specific version is ideal or not

also, it's my imported model of boss room, I don't know what steam will say about it, but it should be a little better than the original or worse

@white spire alright I did a fix for the larger overall issue

@pale jolt v3; I left the boxes untouched, removed the back walls, divided the curtains into different meshes and rotated their normals, mappieces can be converted back and forth, edited and seem to work

haha yeah, I actually booted up DSR like 2 months ago and magically I had a warning about data fraud so who knows what it even came from. Kinda freeing tbh

Maybe it just broke the loading at a distance, but fixed the windows at the same time

Going by this, in the latest version within 3ds max, it looks correct

in the newest version that is

pictured in max are the mirrored and non mirrored versions and the mirrored version appears as we want (Fromsoft displays in a different coord space and we need to mirror to fix that)

we want it to display the same direction as in DSMS so that's correct

Recalculating the normals based on the faces gets what we expect too

I technically exported these two with aqua model tool, but it should be the same output
