Ngl, this look bad
The use of entity is questionable

u see how it looks, don't u?

#

just use particles

#

it will be much better

# swift merlin Thanks

I think a lot of people here have...opinions, which is fine to voice them but not at the point where it gets close to straight up bullying someone

I think what's going on is the initial rotation. That's probably what throws people off. Besides that, looks great!

No one is bullying anyone, you are in a place filled with developers that have interests like yours, most of us have worked with similar stuff, you should be open to discussions like this, if all you took from that is that it looks ugly that's your problem.

I said the use of entities is questionable, since it really is, you can achieve same thing with same visual with particles, even if that was hard for you i was open to sending examples on how to achieve that, and if you still think entities is the best way for you, at least set initialRotation, it won't fix it but at least the initial y rotation should be fixed

The use of bullying was a poor voice of words, I'll admit, but I don't see anything wrong with me being against the idea that it looks bad, given your only statements were that it looks bad, entities are questionable, and why not particles, (taking both you and serty into account), with 2 of those being essentially the same statement and were things I could understand, leaving my main takeaway to be the comments on the look of it
I wanted to use entities because I wanted the specific 3D look of the model, which you can't really do in particles without having a particle for each face
And setting the initial y rotation isn't the solution, setting it is actually what's causing it to look the way I assume you're talking about, but I thank you for the suggestion

can I see this model?

swift merlin
#

Like send you the file or just show a closer image?

Ok

# scenic valve okay, I see..

If you don't see it in the same light as I do (as in, it's significance to me on the use of entities over the performance and general preference of the use of particles), it's fine, but thank you for attempting to understand

But for what I'm doing with what I made, this is too smooth, although I doubt that couldn't be changed, but mainly the fact that it's not 3D

finite rapids
#

it could be changed, idk why but yours dont seem 3d to me? could be the recording

swift merlin
#

I didn't want to break it up into several shorter ones
And that's what I meant when I said "uses a model", cause it's an actual model

a bit better yeah

# finite rapids well, beside it being an entity the rotation was the only problem it look a bit ...

Cool
I understand the perspective of it being a bit weird looking, but when the trail is actually used, the player will be moving a lot faster like in the other video, so it won't really be noticeable, y'know?
Plus the segments being the size they were is also a purely stylistic choice, and can't really be seen from a 3rd person perspective (as in, from a real third person view, not the change in video in game)
And entities aren't a problem, they're a preference

it is calculating the needed rotation and size for a particle to connect between two positions in the world

wanton barn
#

Yea figures

#

The rotation is fixed

finite rapids
#

yeah, in the y and x axes, the z still rotate to the camera

wanton barn
#

Also the thing with particles is you put them in an x shape they can look 3d. Not even that, but you can stretch particles like you can entities for that line effect

#

It’s just the axis limitations, but that’s pretty much it

lightni9ng hiding this from me is just plain mean

@swift merlin why you no tell me it looks this much better
