apparently the tick rate is 64 for official servers

#

but i dont really understand the sub tick system they have

coral dome
# past stream but i dont really understand the sub tick system they have

There's not much to understand. They are just more accurately timestamping actions, meaning they are adding the deltas inbetween your frames to your timestamps. and inbetween the ticks where they send out data, they do more accurate server side reconstruction of events. In reality the tickrate / sync intervals haven't changed

Stairs and all that still won't block vanilla light

Only point light

Which is why they are not adding colored lighting to default vibrant visuals

Dynamic lighting on items when?

That's cool

#

I sent a message to navi to see if they can make it so shapes are batched into a single packet but didn't hear anything back, not sure if that's something they'd be willing to do or not

I did explain that the reasoning wasn't just for abusing it 😄

astral kayak
#

missed specifying 50k instead of 50 in my message 😦 it seems like the packet for doing atleast basic updates is fairly cheap

little marsh
jolly summit
#

There's many non-abusive reasons as to why batching would still be a good idea

astral kayak
#

yes 🙂

jolly summit
#

I have some ideas on how we can use it for some internal tooling on Galaxite but even that would require sending hundreds of packets, which is slightly annoying

little marsh
#

I forgot about galaxite lol

#

I got false perm banned from it awhile ago when it first released

jolly summit
#

If you cared enough to appeal (assuming it was a false ban), you'd probably get unbanned now

#

Looking at your profile, it looks like you triggered our AC for spawning in items

pulsar granite
#

Choosing to read AC as animation controller.

astral kayak
#

the biggest hurtle for me for maps and whatnot is the having to strip it from builds for release since its a beta module but thats something I think can be worked around.

#

I think batching would be great but also perhaps some way of making groups via the api?

#

Kinda weird that due to the way first person rendering on items works that vibrant visuals pretty much removes the shadow from the item

#

I'm guessing it just has to be like this though

and just yesterday setting deferred to default

The main thing is that colored lighting and vanilla block light follow different rules. E.g. block light can literally light things up behind a wall, while colored lighting doesn't have any ambient lighting and requires a direct line of sight. In other cases, colored lighting might pass through blocks that vanilla block light can't. There is also a big difference in range and brightness

per biome configs are dope

#

Not sure if it was just me or not but everytime i join the world and play on fancy graphical mode, the sky always go little dark like it's raining even though it is not.

Had to clear the weather just to fix it. this happens everytime i join the world.

sharp wedge
#

how did they managed to break a entire weather system from this

remote thunder
#

I'm pretty sure that's an old issue not exclusive to the graphics setting

sharp wedge
#

Technically yeah but this time is more 90% common than before.

#

it's usually weather desync things from the past but this preview is uh, always happen.

#

No normal sky whatsoever for me, just only rain-ish weather without rain.

#

I don't see this issue on VV either so that's quite confusing.

heavy latch
#

Uhm. So, apparently pretty much all add-ons from the marketplace don't work anymore after this update.

#

They quite literally just crash my game before the world even starts loading.

#

Not only the marketplace add-ons, but also a few community ones as well.

#

Like the free version of better on bedrock

#

It's not even a matter of downloading the packs: just their presence alone is enough to crash the whole game.

#

As far as I can tell, this only happens on the console edition of the game (specifically PS5). Do keep in mind that the world I'm trying to join is hosted on a PC.

#

Also, my friend that is on the same device as me appears offline.. Even though he literally isn't.

#

And thus I can't join his world

Then I will crawl along the network cables to Mojang Studio's office to steal 1.21.100 for everyone

dusky forge

What does that even mean

gloomy willow
ivory oyster
#

what

ivory oyster
#

I meannn you would know

sand mica
#

Most of the tools we use are publicly available, or created on a per team basis

ivory oyster
#

Chunker was partner only for a while, so was the bedrock editor and ofcourse the debug versions of the game aren’t public

sand mica
#

The bedrock editor was never private only

#

As for debug builds. They contain sensitive information so they can't be publicly available

ivory oyster
#

what use do partners have for that “sensitive information” that the public wouldn’t

sand mica
#

Not much. We're just trusted with it. Hence NDAs

#

All I'm saying is that they can't just release the debug build of the game. You saw what they did with server pdb files. I would advocate for releasing the "debug" features from it. Probably via bedrock editor

ivory oyster
#

The server pdb file changes did nothing

sand mica
#

The point is the fact they made the decision at all

#

Releasing the debug build would be even less likely

#

I'd much prefer if debug features were publicly available, but they're stuck inside the debug builds until Mojang finds a way and the time to release them proper

#

The bedrock editor is the perfect opportunity to release some of them

ivory oyster
#

and as for everything else partners get?

sand mica
#

Like what?

ivory oyster
#

Release dates, Roadmaps, Upcoming changes, etc, etc, etc

sand mica
#

The community gets lots of opportunities to learn from the Devs about new things they plan on adding. They even revealed some of it in the creator channel live streams

#

Same goes for here, where they do Q&As

#

We learnt about the features they'd be adding to deferred and new item and block features before they even hit preview

prime copper
gloomy willow
#

like a bossbar command

#

they have an in-game mob ai editor too

#

a lot of stuff used to help add-ons work better

sand mica
# gloomy willow like a bossbar command

Such a command doesn't exist in the public build, so it can't be used in marketplace packs. We can only use the bossbar component on mobs. A command would open up some opportunities for custom gameplay

#

i think it only visualises some stuff

#

like the path finding and stuff

#

no actual editing

grand panther
#

Java has stuff like that too, but they disable it before shipping a version. However, since Java is written in Java, you can just use a mod to enable it.

#

Bedrock's debug features are probably behind a preprocessor flag and gets compiled out.

(dw this isnt from any leaked build)
