  • Added a new session.extensionContext.blockUtilities object which will present a number of high-performance common block operations. First function added is a fillVolume function to perform large scale fill operation which honors Editors different block palette types
#

hmm

#

Imagine deferred optimization in this preview

quasi venture
#

Added support for input glyph replacement for signed books. For example, using input string ":_input_key.jump:" will be replaced with "JUMP" when using keyboard, or an emoji in case of using a gamepad.
subtle but very cool change

We got performance improvements on iOS last week

And it wasn’t mentioned

Let’s not forget they have dropped new features in deferred without mentioning it in the changelogs before

Should this material have ambient occlusion applied when lighting? If true, shadows will be created around and underneath the block. Optionally can be constructed with float to control exponent applied to ao value after lighting.

tight portal
#

There's a bug where your mouse exists the game window this preview in windowed mode.

normal gale
#

While it wasn't working on preview, it was also not working in retail so maybe it's PC specific?

tight portal
#

I am also testing jigsaw generation and so far it seems better, but it could just be my luck.

strong kiln
#

pensive_frog No secret components.

tight portal
tame kestrel
#

hmm weird editor does not like when u u set size to 100

#

but it does things with 99

strong kiln
#

Someone accidentally did < 100 instead of <= 100.

tame kestrel
# crisp slate ??

when i set slection size to 100x100x100 it does not delete anything, but with 99x99x99 it works perfectly fine

crisp slate
tame kestrel
#

yes

meager heart
tight portal
#

same one as in my bug report

sterile tinsel
#

I'm curious about the AllowUnloadedChunks option in the getblocks and containsblock functions. I'm assuming that allows for loading and checking unloaded chunks? If so, why add it to those two, but not the fillblocks function?

#

Nvm, I guess the flag suppresses the error you would normally get if part of the function would access unloaded chunks and only processes the loaded ones.

normal gale
#

I can't figure out the smooth tool. I wonder if I'll have better luck looking directly at the code

sterile tinsel
#

So are creators still building worlds for sale on the marketplace? As someone who plays vanilla and writes scripting -style Addons, I don't really understand the in-game editor that's getting so much focus.

normal gale
#

Also, it's hard to use editor mode in production when it's still in preview

#

Well this is interesting

sterile tinsel
#

Sure, sure, I'm just at a loss as to what's needed beyond creative mode for world editing.

normal gale
sterile tinsel
#

I'm assuming editor mode gives you like volumes to paint multiple blocks at once without using fill commands

frigid relic
#

yes

plain musk
#

i should get into the editor
all that stuff seem interesting

sterile tinsel
#

I've heard of world edit, but only play Bedrock

#

Never heard of axiom

frigid relic
#

there's world edit bedrock edition

plain musk
#

lol

normal gale
#

Like, Wow. You don't know WorldEdit?

sterile tinsel
#

Nope

#

Lol

#

I'm an old man with no visual imagination

normal gale
#

I'm actually shocked. I didn't even know that was possible

sterile tinsel
#

🙂

#

I'm aware that it's some sort of 3d block editor, like a Minecraft version of Blender or something

plain musk
sterile tinsel
#

But no first-hand experience with it.

normal gale
frigid relic
sterile tinsel
#

I'm not going to load the original, I detest Java edition, but that's too off topic

normal gale
sterile tinsel
#

Cool beans

plain musk
normal gale
frigid relic
normal gale
#

I also prefer we don't go down that road

frigid relic
#

What road will it be?

#

because I wasnt going to argue, I just wanted to know why

normal gale
#

The editor road

plain musk
#

btw @normal gale
are there any plan to make extensions for the editor? sense you have similar experience

snow salmon
sterile tinsel
#

@frigid relic I DMed you. I'm happy to discuss my opinions, I just don't want to muddy the topic here.

normal gale
#

Like gradients and non-90 degree rotations

plain musk
#

good to know

normal gale
#

If only I could do it in a way that's as optimized as native functions, but what can you do

distant salmon
#

Keel over and cry

plain musk
#

lol

#

good luck with that

visual hedge
#

And what else can be changed, besides filtering

normal gale
#

Want a palm tree? you got it

visual hedge
#

Fr, they should call it "marketplace"

normal gale
#

Castle? Here you go

#

Wonderful

visual hedge
#

Actually, having some kind of structure pack on marketplace might be an interesting idea

#

Maybe it's already possible to submit those, as addons

bitter valve

no jigsaw stuff AAA

bitter valve

all things features are locked to dynamic worlds

strong kiln
bitter valve
normal gale

It doesn't have to be worldgen specific

bitter valve

true

#

but for what Veka is talking about its not really clear

normal gale

The context is editor mode sooo

bitter valve
#

welp

#

not happening

editor is locked to preview

#

for now

normal gale

I just found some code that generates ticking areas on the fly

Y'all were talking about an addon with structures in it. I've been working on a recipe-based system that creates an empty structure in memory and reads the recipe to build structures.

crisp slate
sterile tinsel
#

how do I paste code in here...

bitter valve
#

cant wait to see if Jigsaw's max block width gets expanded

#

thatll be lots of fun

bitter valve
sterile tinsel
#

no, I mean like a codeblock of text

#

I'm not gonna throw the whole file in here

#

found it

#

bah, it's like 3000 characters

#

lol

bitter valve
sterile tinsel
sterile tinsel
#

I had to restrict my rooms with vertical trapdoors in them from being randomly rotated because there's a bug with their blockstates and rotation currently

normal gale
#

I get it now...

#

The smoothing... It's native code... 😔

sterile tinsel
#

is that a good or bad thing?

normal gale
sterile tinsel
#

ah

#

gotcha

#

so in your case, a bad thing

normal gale
#

Good and bad. Good because it means they're not using JS instead of C++

#

Bad because I won't know how exactly they did it

sterile tinsel
#

true

#

yeah

crisp slate
strong kiln
#

Upload pseudocode?

normal gale
sterile tinsel
#

speaking of performance and native code, I don't suppose you guys have considered a c++ api where those of us with more programming experience could write addon modules in c++, have you?

crisp slate
#

I'll consider adding JS version of some of these things into our sample set... I have time earmarked over the next month or two to revamp our samples and documentation.

sterile tinsel
#

I suppose then we'd have to compile for all of your supported platforms

#

so maybe not

normal gale
#

I mean if this will just be for editor mode, it would be really beneficial for performance

crisp slate
sterile tinsel
#

yeah, makes sense. I almost regretted the question right after I hit enter, lol

normal gale
#

I'm gonna post the image with my problem in #old-editor

#

Yey! Thank you, Devs!

#

I'm not the only who sees this right?

#

It's been like this for a few previews

night oriole
#

I love how they implemented bee poisoning in this preview. Feeding the item adds a component group with spell_effects, and also a timer that waits a single tick before removing that same component group. Such a hack, the kind of thing I would write myself while muttering annoyances

Now with the implementation of the Ore UI on the world editing screen, does Mojang intend to add the export worlds button on mobile? Because so far it is exclusive to Windows, and mobile can only activate it with texture, but now with the Ore UI it is really impossible to enable the button.

opal thicket
real dawn
#

I really wish they would enable the button on the ore ui screen for mobile users as this is a very important feature

opal thicket
#

Android doesn’t have much limitations, you just have to go to your files and get the world folder and archive it into a .zip to send it to someone

#

Same thing on iPhone

fading grail

You can only do this if you use alternative methods such as root

Or as I like to do, connect my phone to my laptop using a data cable and accessing my files on my laptop
