Are the windmills items or entites?

#

The spinning part

#

That's really cool

limpid chasm
#

So blocks for everything but the windmill. Upclose it's 3d entity, at distance it's a particle.

Does that help with performance

limpid chasm
#

Crazy amount

#

Large entities moving are crazy performance heavy

young shore
#

Makes sense so you just create a replica particle in place of the entity. Is there a reason you don't just keep it as a particle

limpid chasm
#

they also disappear after 50-70 blocks.

young shore
#

Is entity for interaction

#

?

limpid chasm

#

What's the purpose to keep it as an entity

#

In short distance

limpid chasm
#

I want 3d not 2d when close

young shore

#

But sure if you don't care about 3d you could use only particles

#

It's an LOD system

young shore
#

3d is huge when it comes to scenery and the experience

limpid chasm
#

So we could lower the LOD as they get farther away to increase performance.

Right now they just disappear which ruins the world

young shore
#

How do you sync speed or is it always the same

limpid chasm
#

So my current issue with the above solution is the same for animated blocks. It's a perfromance hit at scale. So I need to swap in particles to fake it.

#

But it's much harder to do when I have to scan each block 1 cord at a time

young shore
#

Commands suck, are you tryn to use javascript native its way less of a performance hit for spawning In particles.

limpid chasm
#

No, I'm not doing any api stuff.

Nope. I do UE5 dev too and have been doing this for 30+ years. I'm doing Bedrock dev because I can do it 100% codeless very very fast.

If I'm forced to do coding and JS then I'd rather go do UE5.

Here is one of my marketplace games.
https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/marketplace/pdp?id=d8a14066-38ad-4633-bab8-f50ab1817f1c

My goal is to spend as much time making creative things from my drams as a kid and as little time messing with tools, doing "Code", json, js, java, or any other non-creation related content. Right now I'm at 99.9% creation and 00.1% json, mojang, commands.

If I moved to JS, most my time would be doing that, learning it, diag'ing JS not making content and being creative.

If I wanted to be a programmer and coder I won't be using Bedrock game engine.

you make minecraft like a game engine manπŸ’€

I love that. I think of Bedrock as a game engine with a block system.

I love this better then how you had it before

limpid chasm
#

I know it's a massive step up. I talked to jannis about performance and they felt a flip book wouldn't really add any issues. This should allow me to enhance alot of other things too now
