Honestly, what I'd do if you just want better stuff is get just a thorium/cobolt pick and then skip to adamantine. Tons of easy to find veins in zone 4.

Another option is desert dungeons. High roll chests will have thorium ore at a decent rate with enough exposed caves and rock that you get some out of that too.

I am just not gonna be using tebex tbh because then I'd be paying 10% in fees 5% to tebex AND 5% to hytale for "support to hytale" just doesn't make damn sense they already got tens of millions of funding in just the first few days.. also there is tax man too so add another 15% in taxes

we need more slots tbh, i think presets should save inside your computer in a little .txt file so we can have infinite amonts of preset as long as we have space in our pc

Is there a way to set the java path and java args for Hytale? On my machine only installed software is allowed to run but not shipped ones but I see no options to set the Java Path or any Java Args. This means, since this game relays on java, that shipped java versions are getting deleted over a script and I can't do anything against this.

Probabilities don't always work xD, you can break 600 and don't get one (like me with pumpkins), or break 1 and get it(like me with wheat).
Yeah it's still RNG but those are the odds built into the game
There are a few but they don't reach the complexity of Thaumcraft just yet. There is Elements by Verdo. There are also plenty of magic mods that give magic weapons to use. (Including mine: check out Kami's Magical Items :)). I have yet to see anything that really goes into depth like Thaumcraft or other fleshed out Minecraft magic mods though
I kinda want Equivalent Exchange (ProjectE now), but it would really break the balance of Hytale.

I could replicate a full minecraft mod in less than a day as long as it's not something like world gen, items, crafting recipes all that is so much easier here in Hytale.
That's kinda because Hytale has a Modding API :V Minecraft needs mods to go through a loader (unless you install them forcibly via the JAR like the good ol' days. Though most mods won't let you do that anymore, since they call the mod loader code.)
I use bedrock it had mods with a real system beyond what java has, but it's terrible anyways too

There is another high tier in the creative menu, Onyx or whatever

Mithril will require a special way to craft/obtain it. I have a feeling it'll be similar to how terraria's shimmer pools work
I'm also guessing that's why there's another tier of metal next to it, which will be obtainable normally.

if you read tooltips, you'll know that golems are made from the gems. Like Ruby, Emerald, etc. Some day, I hope they add Amethyst.

I don't think it will be a multi-block crafting recipe, I have a feeling you'll put down a golem core (crafted via one of the magic workbenches), and cast a spell with a consumable "Animator" Wand (Also craftable).

I'm hoping it's a similar system to like MegaMan Legends' Refractors. We put energy crystals into generators/engines. Or Tales of the Abyss, which uses a similar system, but sound energy instead.

I don't think the WIP Buildings are meant to spawn within a certain radius of the spawn either, but they can spawn literally next door to the spawn room.
My main wealth is in gold. I have dragon sickness you see, and loot all the zone 4 gold piles I see. I have a double chest of blocks plus a little spill over, plus a double chest of slabs plus spillover.
I decided I had enough ores and don't go out of my way to mine them any more.
I haven't taken the time to get much gold, like only 2 stacks, besides the gold blocks themselves like I found in the desert structure
I have one in zone 2, but otherwise no idea what it is meant to be or where they're not supposed to spawn.

I did level up the farming bench all the way so I can grow the azure kelp, so I just need to find the blue crystal shards to make more, and I have like 10-20 stacks of that

Wait, light temple braziers are craftable? That's new to me.
No way to farm them, however in the underground biome of zone 4 there are often crystal veins in the ceiling you can mine out. Red is most common, but blue is there sometimes as well. Rarest is yellow of the top of my head
I'd suggest collecting all three colors, as they can grow the blood, storm and azure stuff for potions if you ever want to get potion supplies easier
Yup, they require azure petals though which is the expensive part. Otherwise it's just some marble and charcoal.

They are radiantly bright. I started putting them behind my marble goddess statues so as to not blind me.
I heard somewhere they made crops grow faster, but I think it's just some urban legend.
Only three methods are water, fertiliser, and sweet talking the crops.
I haven't tested it. However more light I know does effect it, and the braizers are really bright.

What I did (because I have underground crops) is have tavern chandeliers over all my crops so they are optimally lightes

Light does help indeed but I notice natural light during day the same as light sources, and evening before sleepytime even natural light stops helping

Ah, yes. I looked at the Active Growth Modifiers for Plant_Crop_Wheat_Block and it does say Fertilizer, Water and LightLevel. LightLevel has a modifier of 2. It supports sunlight levels from 5 to 15, and artificial lights (in red, green and blue) from 5 to 127.
We need a either a clock widget on our UI or an actual clock scenery item to help us know when nighttime comes

Axes are weapons, hatchets not, you can craft a war axe in the workstation.
In Creative you can find axe weapons that damages enemies
so its a non-sensical balancing decision then?

To be fair, there's 2 categories of items in this case, one is "weapon" other is "tools", so I don't think this is the case.
I agree but I think the combat system of the game has lots of planned changes, too, and perhaps additional weapons, and lots - I'm not sure the creative process they use, so I don't want to even ask questions, I just let them figure it out. Nobody wants the game to suceed more than the game makers.
The combat system is still being fleshed out, no reason to add tools as weapons to the mix before the figure out they actual weapons.

Nope, best I can do is select the air above it. It seems that to select the hitbox, you need to select the block with the hitbox... in which there is no block attached to the hitbox.

Well, forget what I said, when you take the tool out of your hand, the hitbox should disappear, try reloading your world.

every weapon I've made works, hatchet is for cutting trees, this include BattleAxe's, at least all one's you can make from workbench and Blacksmith's Anvil, not every creative one though

rebooting my PC helped fix it that time for me
I got rid of an errant already existing hitbox that was in my adventure world while in adventure by keeping on trying to hit at, it tried to hit through it, but when there's nothing through it to hit, it eventually get's rid of it
Oh, you don't need the brush at all - I removed the final one by left clicking while looking all over the hitbox. There might be a precise spot but that's what I did.

They're adding colors in some outfits with patches, maybe they're doing it by making textures for each color (which you can see when trying different colors on different outfits, like the flower hairpins and some metal bracelets, since they change more than 1 color at the same time, and skin colors changing the makeup color)
I hope they add multiple colours choices for different sections of outfits. If my girlfriend can get a striped sweater that's green and blue, then that's all we need
They do it manually, that's actually true, but they could do it programatically if they had chosen to
I mean they showed that they use a white template texture so they can change the color super easily so it just kinda does not make sense. I was thinking they limited you for a reason, like maybe they dont want people to be able to change everything to a skintone to make yourself naked.

Since there's some items that change texture with the color, they could just mix the methods, I agree with that, making items that don't change texture have a color wheel, and the others have color options.
Not everything works by just putting a transparent shaded texture over it, though. Some will look...really bad

When they show the skin texture its white so they can make the skin literally any color by simply changing the hue and such

I see the bit about the skin now. Maybe it would work fine with a colour wheel for clothes! I worry about how it would handle trying to tint darker or lighter hues though. Can't darken what's already minimum brightness, y'know?
Maybe they would be able to have a hard limit to what ends of hues you can use... The very brightest and the very darkest being non-selectable
Not that hard about clothes, just make the base texture white with the shading and set the base color to the one they want.

I think it's just from how other games implement colour wheels, and how it never looks right to me, like the existence of it battles with every aspect of the UI no matter what game it's in. Maybe I just hate colour wheels!

the reason I dislike the idea of a colour wheel for all the avatar bits atm is just that the palettes seem to be done via actual palette systems, allowing for hue shifting and such, while if it was all colour wheel it makes it feel flatter

I mean it really depends on implementation, if the whole texture is one RGB value it's superflat, but if you shift the values just a slight bit in a specific way across the texture it can be okay-ish instead of superflat

just tested it right now, tamed chickens will lay eggs, just not in the coop, similarly to minecraft where it just lays it on the ground!

try going to creative, place chickens down and tame them, and keep setting the time to noon, you'll see eggs pop-out besides the chickens

I've had tamed chickens with a coop for two days now (in-game week or so) but never got any eggs
Had a cow that gave milk, but after I added 3 more, they stopped producing. The sound of filling a bucket is there but no milk-bucket gets generated
for chickens, tamed ones wont go inside coops, instead they produce eggs and just drop them as an item, for the cow's not sure what the issue for that is-
okay that's the issue, it needs to be untamed chickens, works for me, they lay eggs as for cows I'm not sure yet, I haven't messed with milking cows
tame the cows first, they need lettuce
I've not seen any eggs pop up even outside the coop (I'm around regularly unless they despawn within a couple of minutes) and all my animals are tamed

Cuz Last Time before Update 3 i had Alec's Cats and the Cats didnt spawn so i had to Create a New World and they spawned after i found out what was causing it to fail to load, the Teamworks mod had to need a "." infront of them so it loads first.
I'd assume mods revolving around mobs, definitely needs new worlds, esp if said mobs spawn naturally

That's essentially an Outlander Village, or even dungeons if you've seen those lying about.
you can easily spot the cemetery in zone 1, as they have a circular ring around the cemetery entrance!

Right-click on the world from the world selection screen, then click Open Folder, and look in logs. they're sorted by date, look at the most recent one, and see if you can find any line that says "ERROR" towards the end. It could be providing a lot more useful information
is asking me to update the mod because its not for the right version, any ideas?
When your pack is selected, click the 3 dots at the top left, and next to "Server Version", click "Current". Should fix that up, I think.

a lot of moddevs sadly does this- Very few mods i accept that with, but most i actually skip as a result. because it makes it look bad. When there is no way to contect the person or hear what other people have said about the mod. Comments are a very very rough-cut reviews system at a glance (Not reliable, but it's still helpful)

Are you an operator playing in adventure? If so, they removed the teleport option from map markers... because it's not really an adventure feature 😛

If you're OP'd, you can easily swap between Creative and Adventure with "O". That should enable teleporting again.

Yep, if you /op self, you could right click on the map, then use the teleport function. You still can in creative, but not adventure.

there is the PM system, but i think even that can be disabled from the users side.
When there is no discord, PM, github or comment section. I avoid the mod.

one of them, i forget which, had a bug with its work bench that made it, and only it, require no material. it just had an asterisk like creative. every other bench was working normal. when breaking the bench, it wpuld dupe one it o inventory and one floating item on the ground, that when picked up, resulted in said dupe. cant recall if it was tavern or orchard

Technically yeah but they are not shown on the mod page itself. You can only see follows if you go to the authors page, and favourites only show in the profile of the person who is favouriting. Even then, they really arent used that much. There are people with millions of downloads but with ~10 followers
To add onto this, if someone favourites one of my mods, I have absolutely no knowledge of that

The number of people who are using your mods does not compare to the amount of times you update your mod. I have ~1k-2k people using one of my mods, but since i update it fairly regularly, its gotten 20k downloads.

We were using resource bags and I loved it before the update. I have no idea what's going on with it now as we can't play. We can't play because of the building or block mods don't update they're just going to delete and people have spent a lot of time building on our server
I always use them in modpacks, and they work good, maybe you were using something that caused issues with it.
pack nesting. Deadpoly's dev worked hard to eliminate that to a degree by having large packs not able to fit into smaller ones, but that was that shaped inventory.. i really dont like shaped inventory

I tend to, in minecraft, using Project E, Have 4 black bags in a gray bag. Basically: Dump pouches for when spelunking.
I don't use the transmutation table or the armors o Poject E. But sometimes i do use the ability to transmute items from one item to another in those funky chests.
For Hytale, now i can have the similar setup. A backpack with 4 others acting as dump pouches. ❤️
Shame items in Hytale can't yet be renamed, as far as i know... that would be better than coloring them, imo... Oooh well...

This is entirely possible and quite easy to do but I'm not an artist at all. The mod would be full of other backpacks if I was, but they're just using base game assets atm.
Also in reply to the other message: I'm working on a mid-end game essence processing mod. The limited nature of essences is the core of it, with options for essence seeds deeper into the mod
Interesting. If Life Crops ruin the progression, then so be it, no? Could make a reminder in the description the CF page that tells that while compatible, they are NOT meant to be used together due to LC breaks the progression of your mod.
Or let people break the progression if they want. player agency and all that. Up to them how they want to play. No?
Oh yeah I'm definitely not gonna balance against other mods, I've had people ask for that before and it's just not something I wanna do. Would be fun to see how fast people would speedrun the mod though
i have more essences mods and one that i can store them in jars. i think growing them is a bit op

one of the addons that i used all the time were torches that we could throw and they stick to the wall or floor where they land. sort of like flares but more gamelore friendly. that version used a torch and a slime ball to make the modded torches. maybe sap could be used here. just a qol mod that i think is good.

I know the mod you mean, I wouldnt be able to make it place on a normal G drop through the asset editor, but I could edit the torches to allow the left click to charge and throw a torch projectile that places on contact

considering the torches already produce light while being on the ground, im sure you could probably change it to recognize that "dropping" the torch counts as a "underhanded toss", essentially a super short charge throw that drops it at your feet
It would be nice to be able to see the items needed for previous tiers of a bench e.g. the farmers workbench. So if you want to set up an upgraded workbench somewhere else you know what to bring

You could really do a lot with this kind of mod. Turn torches into throwable weapons that burn enemies or create a torch depending on what they hit. Left click without holding to swing like a sword, burn on hit. Right click same as usual. Have longer variations like torch spears. Torch bows/crossbows too
At this point, just add a molotov.
Makes sense, there's already flamethrowers.
Let's make it complete then, you can add weapon variants with "cloth" or "sap" in them, making them flammable, then, when holding a torch or any source of fire (except lanterns and other closed things), in your off hand, you can lit the weapon on fire, if the weapon is two-handed, it takes more time, the lit state has a duration and consumes a certain durability.
I already have something in the works like this for my magic mod but without the fire spread, could easily change it to burn anything and everything in sight
I absolutely love this idea but at the moment it's not possible to check for items in specific slots using the asset editor. I'm sure it's very easy with plugins but I haven't jumped into java yet
so one thing i do is read the logs each time i reboot. also, you can go into single player and disable all the mods then add a few mods back in in abc order or whatever works for you. after that, monitor the dates each mod is updated. if its stuck in jan and not active... prob not best practice to use it. finally, check comments to help guide if other people are having issues that may describe an issue your server is experiencing. i hope this helps.

Got a question. Anyone elses game been ignoring your FPS limit? My monitor has a 144 refresh rate but for some reason, despite setting V-sync on, turning the limit on and off again, it doesn't cap the framerates anymore suddenly, going up to 200~300+ FPS on the counter. Not a major issue but I would like to keep my PC from using more resources than necessary.

yeah. like if you make underwater bases (which I plan to try at some point 😄 ) bioluminescent corals or underwater plant life would be really nice and fit with the aesthetics of the underwater

yeah, those little details add a lot. Be fun too if what you were wearing armor wise also affected your movement speeds in water. obviously wearing a diving suit is the best since its designed for water so you could swim at the fastest speeds. but if you wore typical combat armor you'd be much slower, and slowly sink if you don't actively try to keep your head above water XD

This wouldnt be too hard, considering theres already directional movement for a couple of the weapons you can use(I.E, the mace changes swing direction based on what direction your moving), so im sure we could make that a thing as well

anyone else find that their tamed cows stopped producing milk after the last patch was pushed yesterday?
You kill them, they drop their head, you plant it, it grows into a plant that you eat and get a insanely high regeneration effect, and the rest of the body can be used as food to tame squirrels or as fuel.
Yes, my cows have not been giving me milk and I cant shear my sheep

My tamed chickens will still produce eggs in the coop.
However, since U3 was pushed, all my chickens lose their tamed status every time they are released from the coop and have to be re-tamed or they will run around scared.

It seems clear that taming was pushed too early and was not well tested in terms of the integration with the animal products sytem.

Taming technically was in the initial launch of Early Access, but it was really wonky. You could hold a bag of feed and some animals would show hearts, and would stop running from you, acting like the animals in the memories place. But you couldn't lure them or anything, and often times they would stop moving altogether.
infinite water kitchen sink mod to fill buckets and watering cans, and it looks like a craft station.... now that is a very creative way to do it
There were already parameters in the NPC's template for favourite items too
You could hold a pair of scissors or an apple or a block and some would show hearts and not run. And you could simply approach, alert, and let them deaggro, and EVERY animal would stop seeing you as a threat. There was no taming system, just random heart reactions.

No, hasty pushing is not inherently a practice of EA releases. It just depends on the developer. Hypixel appears to want to push content very early, which makes sense, but it becomes frustrating when combined with lax patch notes.

Are you saying that an agile development cycle is the norm for early access builds?
I'm 99% sure early access aims to do three things.
- Get the game in the fans hands as quickly as possible
- Get crowd funding for the studio
- Allow for a rapid development cycle
We're not even close to Alpha, and to follow suit, there's Subsistence that pushes content when it is well tested (and by a single developer no less), and Valheim which has a proper public test branch even as it is technically in EA. Specific examples will run the gammut of EA practices.
for which, I'd suggest relearning what a rapid developement cycle is and how business implement them

I'm happy to run through a pile of examples to help educate you on how varied it is, and that users naturally have different levels of tolerance. Good communication is what typically smooths the bumps. It's excusable for Hypixel for now as their team is in flux, but it's not a great practice for EA long term

Both my comments are true and unrelated, so it is more rational to consider the are separate points. When we elect to in my office, agile dev cycles (which take weeks not days) are an internal practice, which is typically the circumstance when merely commit messages are considered sufficient. Testing branches bring agile practices (e.g., RAD or whichever jargon you would like to use) into the public domain in a responsible manner. Once it gets pushed to a public branch, the expectations for functionality and communication are higher, and breaks in functionality are naturally judged more harshly. Hence: internal testing, public test branches, patch notes, etc.

The same code that makes unsupported logs break also misinterprets deco blocks as support. When they break, the limb suddenly thinks it's unsupported.

what you sent here is indeed the standard practice for Agile. we also use a similar structure, of promoting branches through Dev -> QA -> Staging -> Prod. through a course of 1-2 months as we are dealing with people's money/savings at my work.
but I don't understand why an Early access build would ever pick Agile approach unless it's close to release. you'd surly pick something like RAD, Lean Software Developement, Sprial mode even hell the god forsaken Scrums/Sprints.
As for the git commits being useful for changelog / patch notes, That's apperently what they implemented recently according to Simon, but stuff still goes through the cracks, because let's be realistic here. not every dev writes good commits aalll the time.
it's not really a great system at my work. but at the end of each PR, we force changelog.md file changes before it being allowed to be merged. which atleast has different mindset of what they're righting will be included in the public
Atleast the way I see it, Early access is suppose to eliminate the processing of promoting through QA & Staging as much as possible.

Absent QA and staging, EA would be merely a funding model. EA is not a funding model, and platforms like Steam explicitly dissuade devs from treating it as crowd-sourced funding and user-dependent testing. Especially as there are perfectly good crowd-sourced funding tools well-used for game development. What Hypixel is doing may not not even be RAD, as it is about quickly obtaining user feedback, not pushing QA burdens to users. My hope is that these practices are growing pains, and that as the studio scales up, they will be able to support the expectations of communication, internal QA, and staging that have become standard elements of EA.

I think the main thing that's being missed is Hytale isn't being developed by a random team.
They made and maintained Hypixel for years, so they already have the community/playerbase and reputation. As well as talent
I think ultimately we see Early Access as different structors. we've been repeatly been asked by the devs and simon to ask to tests things (ie QA)

also this might be seen as picky but "EA is not a funding model", I can't thamon how anyone could come to that conclusion considering, if you do any research on why any business would do EA. funding is like one of the top two things that come up.
