There's an "Update" button now in dungeons, it won't fix all the problems with dungeons but it will fix some of them. If you're stuck (Attack/Defend buttons are not working) press the "Update" button and you should be back in the dungeon.

As I said, it will not fix all the glitches. Maybe later on, I'll get to add an "Update" button for all the stages but now it is only in the fighting stage.

Due to the lag that is causing most of the issues with this bot, we are going to get better hardware to run the bot on, this will help with the issues, and will give us the upgrade that we will need to run SB 2. This will cost us around €6 a month.

So here’s a poll to see if enough people are willing to pay a €1 patreon subscription, which will fund the server that will run the bot. For being a member, you will get a trait (cosmetic, just like the alpha/beta trait) and maybe more things (also cosmetic) that we will announce in the future!

Please only vote yes if you are sure you can subscribe, if we set up the patreon and not enough people subscribe, no hardware update will happen. That’s why we need to know if we have enough people before we start.

We didn't manage to get enough patreons to fund the server upgrade completely, but we are going to upgrade it anyways in hopes that in the next couple of days we will get the 2 more patreons that we need!

Because the bot still uses an old discord API version and text chats in voice channels are kinda new, talking in these channels can cause crashes due to the incompatibility, this is a bug.

If you were caught intentionally abusing this bug, you will get your character deleted + possibly banned from the discord server aye

There is an update in next couple of days! (probably tomorrow)

In this update I tried to make the game loop a little bit better, so you guys can enjoy the game while I finish SpeciesBox 2

Here's what is going to change!

Note: All the mentioned numbers are not final and are subject to change

Guilds:
Guilds will now be taxed every week, the tax will depend on how many players in the guild, for now it is going to be 75 gold per player! the gold will be taken directly from the guild's inventory, and if there is not enough gold, the guild will be frozen!

Frozen guilds will not give stat bonuses to their members, they also can not participate in wars!
Frozen guilds can unfreeze themselves by paying the tax they owe _guild pay

If the guild did not pay tax for two consective taxings (2 weeks in a row), all of their territories will be free again!

Bablos:
We've done some changes to bablos to make sure they are more fair and easier to use!

You can now roll a new trait with bablos! One trait will cost you 100 bablos, this might seem like a lot, but this will guranatee a new trait that you did not have before!
We've also changed the amount of gold you get from bablos to be 5 gold, this is a big change, but again, we are trying to make this game more fair and less inflated!

Wars:
There will be a war every 20 hours now! This means that there will be lots of tokens in the game, so to counter that, we are changing the cost of territories to be 8 tokens instead of one!

Bug fixes:
You can no longer use the bablos command multiple times to get more gold than you should be able to
You can no longer join raids if you are locked, this means you will not be able to use dungeons to get your stamina back after a raid

The numbers used in this update have a large overhead, meaning they were over exaggerated.

Use

  • You can now use multiple materials at a time:
  • You can now use _use food/cfood health/stamina/mana/all to use enough food/cooked food to get full health/stamina/mana
    • For example: _use food stamina will use enough food for your stamina to go back to full!
  • You can now use _use gem itemId amount/all to use a specific amount of gems on an item, note that it will keep trying to use gems until it succeeds
    • all is capped at 500
    • For example: _use hg 1234 10 will try to use 10 gems but will stop when the item upgrades successfully even if it didn't need 10 gems to upgrade successfully

Crafting:

  • All types of crafting now requires gold:
  • Cooking food: 1g per food
  • Crafting gems: 3g per gem
  • Leather/Bone/Wood: 0.25g per material used
  • Copper: 1g per material used
  • Bronze: 2g per material used
  • Silver: 3g per material used
  • Iron: 7g per material used
  • Steel: 11g per material used
  • Mythril: 15g per material used
  • Adamantine: 20g per material used
  • For example: crafting a mythril bow requires 8 mythrils which means it costs 8 x 15g = 120g

  • Disassembling items using contact will now return a random amount of material depending on the contact skill level, instead of a specific amount:

In this update, all gold recieved/taken is now increased by 10 folds! This allows the game to have more control over gold, but also will greatly decrease inflation (1000% deflation xzibit), this might look harsh as all the gold in your inventory has lost most of its value, but as I've said before, we are trying to test different things to see what work before the wipe, so we don't have to wipe again!

  • Using gems no longer messes up the gems used stat of the weapon
  • Some players who had their levels stuck are no longer stuck

Also:

Using gems is now enabled again, some weapons have their gems used stat reset back to 0 (get ready for some op weapons xzibit)

The final SpeciesBox update is coming!

There will be no more updates after this one, and the wipe will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

I was planning a way bigger update, but it was going to be very hard and take a lot of time to do these changes so they were scrapped, which means I can go back to SpeciesBox 2 again.

To be honest, the game loop is still not a good one, and the game will still die after a couple of months of the wipe, but hopefully this will give me enough time to get an open beta of SpeciesBox 2, I'm also planning of making a blog and making SB 2 development public, the beta will still be closed for now, but everyone will be able to see how the new bot is coming, and give feedback!

PATCH NOTES:

Season Points:

  • On every tax collection, all guilds will earn season points depending on how many territories they have occupied (5 Points per territory)
  • Leaderboard command now has a season points section

Territories & Map:

  • You can now occupy territories that are not neighbors to already occupied territories
  • Reworked map to support seperated territories
  • You can now deoccupy territories using _guild deoccupy [region index]
  • You can no longer transfer territories to other guilds (Removed `_guild territoryTransfer)

Tax:

  • Guild tax per player is now 100g per player (was 750g)
  • Guilds are now taxed per territory too (1000g per territory)

Gems:

  • Using gems is no longer random, There is now a Gems Required attribute, which is a random number determined by the amount of gems already used on the equipment. Gems Required is the amount of gems required to upgrade the equipment.

Dungeons:

  • Dungeon difficulty now increase by 30% per level (was 20% per level)
  • Dungeon loot now increase by 15% per level (was %10 per level)

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed crafting cost: crafting cost was per equipment instead of per material. Before: Any adamantine item costs 200 gold to craft, After: Adamantine items costs 200 gold x Amount of Adamantine to craft, as intended

There's a known bug where crafting while someone is trading you will cause the crafted equipment to disappear, make sure you don't craft and trade the same time

A little update for dungeons: formula for defeating enemies changed
It was: if (enemy have less than or zero hp and player have more than zero hp) or (enemy have less than or zero stamina and player have more than zero stamina) —enemy will be defeated
Now: if enemy have less than or zero hp/stamina and player have more than zero hp, enemy will be defeated

Territories update! Now guilds can occupy territories on the worlds map!

New command: World
Use _world or _w to check world's statistic
Use _world map or _w m to check world's map
Use _world map region or _w m r to check world's map regions indexes
Use _world map territories or _w m t to check occupied territories

Now guild leaders can use new subcommands:
Use _guild occupy region_index to occupy free region(near current borders), or occupy territory of other guild during guild wars. It costs 1 token and 5 adamantines
Use _guild territorytransfer guild_id region_index or _g tt guild_id region_index to transfer this territory for free to other guild
Use _guild color to check guild's color
Use _guild color hex_color to change guild's color. hex_color must be in hex format, for example: #5865F2. Not all colors supported now by some reason, i will try to fix that. It costs 250 gold

New periodical event: Guild wars. By idea, it will be enabled manually by me, and will be disabled in near 24 hours after start. This event will not be so often. During guild wars guilds can occupy other guild's territories, but only near borders.

This is just a part of future updates, there is no any income from territories, but there will be in future.

What is the Bablos? It is new special resource
Its not inventory resource, and it is not tradable
You can use it to reduce your level or convert it to gold
Only guild members can collect bablos
Guild owners and aristocrats receiving more bablos
Each occupied region gives to all members + 0.00694 bablos per hour (all 144 regions will give + 1 bablos per hour)

New command: Bablos
Use _bablos to check your bablos status
Use _bablos use to use bablos and reduce your character level or convert it to gold

Guild members now can use new command
Use _guild collect to collect bablos. Doesnt matter when you will use this command, you cant miss any piece of bablos

Just to clarify some points about the state of SpeciesBox

  • SpeciesBox will never receive more updates (only game changing bugs will be fixed)
  • We (Me and Jupe) will be working on a remastered SpeciesBox (or SpeciesBox 2 if you want to call it that), which will have most of the current features of SpeciesBox and more features from your ideas
  • We will also remove content/mechanics that make the game boring, and will make it fun even if you have the strongest gear and the best traits and spells
  • The new SpeciesBox is not coming any time soon (probably more than 3 months), but we will try to get an open beta working as soon as possible so we can get feedback from all of you

Update on the current situation: Had to restart the server the bot was running on because of some issues in raids, after restart the bot wouldn't run back up for some reason. Since today is actually a holiday where I live, and I'm going out with friends and family, the bot might not be fixed very fast.
