Yeah they changes in the new update did actually help with their balancing. They’re a slow buildup into a snowball but that makes them easy to squash early game, which most major nations will try to do when able

If they make it past that early game state though they can be TERRIFYING with how much better they are at war now

It’s basically based on the population of a kingdom/city instead

So they unlock more buildings as they grow in population

I think I heard somewhere here that the devs do plan to rework the knowledge system and might make it separate from cultures

I believe I have thought of a good idea to mitigate species being made with traits so bad there’s no possibility of survival or growing as a species; the first component is associating a score with traits. Positive traits have a positive score; negative traits have a negative score. These could be totaled up to get an idea of how negatively the combination of traits impacts them. The second component is a new world law, name to be thought of, that makes it so subspecies can only be created with a total trait score between -3 and 3 to make it much harder for a species to be made too strong or too weak, making everyone be on roughly the same level

There would also have to be a system that does this for the actual gene stats of a subspecies though, like speed or reproduction, cause that can also make it too hard for one to survive

It’s actually pretty easy to swap between forbidden mode and not on the code

My own map I uploaded was forbidden but I just edited the code and turned off the relevant flags for that

I guess on pc you could just get your plots that way and forcing npcs to enact your plots in forbidden/cursed world mode and swap and then observe in normal
