I talked to Igniz about this a long ago he said that the default values are good as they are
you can just change the map size and not much else and nothing much will be affected

the 7x7 part can be changed to fit whatever size you need
and you can do all "d" for default on all other values except for 7x7 if you only want size changes

I could add rivers since the program I use to warp the projection of the image has an river overlay but it would probably take a lot of work to get it work right so i didn't include it, as for forest in africa I agree with that but the problem is it's difficult to decide what terrain is what on the map because for example: Deserts look like plains or forests or cities look like mountains just to name two, I tried my best though and I think i did pretty good with what I was given

@rose phoenix I actually cleared most if not all snow on the Non downscaled 5700 x 2400 image so it's just map conversion and it's the type it's using I think igniz's bot is downscaling it using bicubic and not nearest neighbour which if it was it would prevent stuff like that happening

Downscale the river layer separately and make sure you have interpolation when downscaling
Once downscaled, it will look as if most of the rivers have disappeared, but they would still be there, just barely visible because they have low opacity
You can then select the entire transparent area, then reverse the selection so that it selects all the non-transparent pixels (basically all the river pixels including the ones that are barely visible) and you can then recolour that selection to the approriate colour
It's also the same trick with the seas, oceans, lakes, etc. to avoid that horrible random mountain and hill tiles from appearing at the borders of water and forest tiles.

- While it's not difficult the necessary software to make maps like these can be overwhelming for a lot of people or they may just not be able to do it themself because they don't have a PC or they just don't how to use it
- nah it's really not that hard to do

Could use with a little more mix between the soil and forest to make it look more natural
but it's nice
vortex is a great tool for it
just select the 1 pixel brush, go with soil and spread it all over the forest areas where you want some soil as well. The more you spread in 1 area the more soil/open it gets. Just 2 lines already gives a good effect. After that use the vortex on the lines you made and then you have the result
