To expand on this it would be really cool if they borrowed some inspiration from terraria. When a unit fully dies it drops a gravestone in its place, civs try to collect the gravestones to be stored in a graveyard safely but if they exist too long the dead may return and if too many of them exist in the same space for too long it begins to generate corruption biome
A revival power could be used on a gravestone to bring the unit back and remove the grave, or a button could be added to gravestones in cemeteries, which would be stored and represented like items in storage, to revive a unit stored in a graveyard

Let her make an isolated kingdom so they become queen and get a clan, then make her initiate the rite of ascension so she becomes a different subspecies. Give her subspecies Fenix born (which only activates if she's lived more than 70% of her lifespan), and give her photosynthetic skin so she doesn't starve to death (at least not in dark ages. I've had some wars purely fought by peasants though there was a standing army just because the army was only a province away, not only that, but I've had an arsenal of top of the line weapons sitting in the storage and barely armed troops marching to their deaths for no reason at all
