I suck at mountains too, lol. The map is based on a fan-made heightmap of Narnia I found on the internet, so a lot of the detail did come from that. But I also did a lot of manual editing to fix some errors of the heightmap conversion.

You gotta do a whole process; orcs have the most default traits so you can use them. I think you can kind of encourage units to be born with more traits by giving their parent/s lots of traits, but it's mostly just making them pick up traits by getting them to kill mages/dragons/other kings, lose an eye in a fight, get crippled and skin burns, etc

I call this, gambling with rhino guys. Basically, it's eternal age of despair and I'm going to find out how strong these guys have to be to survive in this hellish wasteland.

I also spent as long as I could be bothered trying to find a race of rhinos with as many gene slots as possible using gene spaghetti, these guys have a whopping 74 (maybe I could have done better than that but there's some weird things going on with subspecies generation).

The biggest challenge, and why it's gambling with rhino guys, is that eventually kids start turning into cold ones. The question is, can a kid survive all sixteen years before they grow up and escape the danger zone for turning into an ice monster and cause a cascade of other kids turning into ice monsters? in all 91 years of simulation, the answer has only been yes with four kids

There's currently an imbalance in the number of females vs. males too, only one male has survived vs three females, and there were already more women than men when I spawned them

If the population ever drops to the point where there's 10 or less adult rhinos, I'm going to make them a bit stronger and then see how long they survive from that point.

(also yes I changed the species name back to the first one, just because I wanted to)

also I don't know if this is a bug, but number of children seems to be limited by currently living children rather than total children and that's really weird

(all but one of the currently living 10 kids there have turned into ice guys, big sigh)

oh also if they manage to make it to adulthood, they get a star

in comparison the number of kids I've watched get to 13 or 14 or 15 and then turn into an ice guy is starting to wear on me 😂
