Idk actually
Always something going on there
Idk what there doing over there
I know Germany as been off and on there
He’s a combat medic so maybe U.N. stuff
Interesting
Very cool regardless
Ask him to accidentally lose a pair of cryes and send them to me
🙏
lol he doesn’t run crye. Uf pro
Ohhh
Sweet
I've heard a lot of good stuff abt uf pro
Top notch uniforms.
The pocket layouts are a bit odd for me. But I can't ignore how comfortable and tough they are
Sweet I'll save some money up and try them out
Super good
russia 👎
russia 👍
Russian ☃️🤡
Sweet setup
The humble armor collector
now attach them to your body like that banker with the pots from buster scruggs
“PAN SHOT!”
Lmao
this guy gets it
It’s truly a great scene
My man
And all I did was buy a new pair of ear pro and gun bag today lol
anyone down to play smth feel free to text me
Surely
🤦♂️
You don’t know anything
My lids have seen 3-4 years worth of ranger school/airborne/RSLC cycles
wtf is p company supposed to mean
So idk what kind of Brit shit u talkin about
Pog?
I’ve did a little soldiering
Real*
No I don’t. I was US we didn’t learn anything about the Brits
I had exactly one run in with Brit’s and it was overseas and it lasted about 2 minutes
Does that mean you are just shit at maintaining your stuff?
We didn’t discuss P company
Undisciplined fuck
I guess I am
lol
This is a really strange conversation with a guy trying to convince us he’s hard for no apparent reason
Cool. You deployed. Lots of us did. I have nearly 3 years worth of OIF time. Shit loads of gunfighting time. I’ve shot multiple ppl at close range. No one gives a fuck. It doesn’t define me. It’s time to move on.
Hold on hold on. Is P Co just the support training group?
Are you the overweight one doing open rank inspections while I was overseas dumping bodies with rifles and frags. Not impressed
@old portal do you remember November Alpha? lol
In Korea?
The land nav range in Casey/Hovey
Which camp?
Is that the one with the cliff face that was fenced off over the big drain ditch
Yeah
Yes. I remember when I was there in 03 when some kid in some rando unit somehow managed to scale the fence during night land nav and fall to his death…he definitely didn’t listen to the safety brief
The old locals hike it no problems since they visit the grave sites up top
This was in Korea lol. I worked with Brit’s here who were under UN Forces Korea Command
For context I just finished being cadre for Ranger school and Reconnaissance Surveillance Leaders Course and I’m in Recruiting duty now
Tell us about that time you got shot at in Afghanistan from 600m across that valley…it sounds exciting
@old portal check my new office out lol
The only Brit interaction I ever had was in 07. Just came in from daytime fight in Baghdad and found 6 naked dudes racked out in our tent. Was an SAS team that just came in and found the first empty place to rack out. They didnt brief us on P company
We trained some UKSF medical folks in Benning last year
I was in an MP unit during my first time in Korea
I’m a combat medic by trade
Beach resort Basra
Speaking of salt on my helmet, this is what it looks like under the cover lol
This shit was scuffed from use
You’re so hard. You must have been in P company
It upsets me but I couldn’t find paint that matches urban tan
It’s almost like SAS
Is that like kids at Bragg saying they are essentially CAG because CAG went thru jump school @coarse laurel
Jealous of?
You’d be correct. I was enlisted.
Not quite
Was leading a 33 man recon platoon in Iraq at 23. Made the E7 list at 7 years after making E6 at 4 years running rifle squad in Iraq at 21
Did my corporal time at the ripe age of 18. Promoted to sergeant at 19 lol
I left as a staff sergeant at 8 years. Made the SFC list at 7 years but got out before my number hit to pin my second rocker. Burned out after 4 years of combat
Considered putting in a WO packet to fly between deployments but said eff it and decided I was done
👍🏻
Chronic migraines 10-15 month from a TBI and shrapnel in my hip that sets off airport metal detectors everytime I fly lol
PVT-PV2-PFC-SPC/CPL-SGT-SSG—SFC-MSG/1SG-CSM
wait whats csm?
There’s some lateral ranks for certain ranks in leadership positions
Command sergeant Major
Oh @coarse laurel VA just put me on some new meds to try for my migraines. Side effect is I can’t taste carbonation. It blocks the sensation of fizz Soda taste flat now. Boring
Lance is a Marine thing only
yum
anti alcoholic medication
Damn dude
I only drink whiskey
I’m still grinding lol
Army did away with it just after WW1
It’s crazy. They didn’t tell me that was a possible effect. Right after that I had 3 flat sodas in a row and was like wtf something’s not right. Found out it’s the meds. Ruined it for me
No white claws for you haha
Never tried one lol
We had some UK dudes in Ft Benning that I talked to and they tell me it’s abit bleak
The UK military felt gutted
imagine having both censor ship and illegal migration
lol
According to them
how much does it pay for like fresh conscript?
I wouldn’t know lol, from what they described it’s more of them not having the right support from their own govt, that and being undermanned
lol
spekaing of army
Lowkey though as a E-6 in the US army also on recruiting duty I’m making close to 98k-102k a year before taxes
That Seattle housing allowance lol
3.9k USD a month
wow thats alot
but thats because i live in fucking poland and thankfuly not a shithole like england
It’s a lot but this place I’m in is expensive as shit too lol
lol
where do you live?
beter not be portland
Outside of Seattle
ok
I need more foreign patches lol
Philippines
bleh
I was born there lol
We had some Philippine scout rangers go through ranger school and I got this from them
Wanna know what’s funny as shit, working with foreign militaries they couldn’t wrap their heads around people immigrating to the US then joining the US military lol
@old portal tell me I’m lying lol
Bro I served with so many Pac Islanders that were in the naturalization process lol
As a matter of fact end of my 07/08 trip we had like 6 guys in my company getting their citizenship. All E4s. Had to be escorted by E6. I got volunteered to go because 2 of the guys were in my squad lol. Taken in the palace during the ceremony. This was at the end of 15 month trip and had lost like 30+ lbs lol. We were all rough as shit
- Enlisted 4 days after I turned 17 in 2002
Thank you for your service unc
come in Paris , i will trade mine
the feet pic was the whole point of this picture
you like my kit tho
those stompers are quite sizeable
im size 46
Feeling kinda cute, might scav to streets later (this shotgun refuses to die)
I'm across the mountains from you, in Chelan. You're a 68W?
Lewis Co. here
👍
You’re on the free(er) side of the state
hahaha Yes. I feel a tiny bit more free
But ya he’s a 68 currently on recruiting orders
Ah. I did a similar job, just different employer. I met quite a few 68Whiskeys though, during the year I lived at Ft. Carson.
I was an 11 many moons ago that did LE for 13 years on this side of the mountain after I got out in ‘10
👍 Congrats on getting out. We both made it. 😂
Yea
I’m a Army Medical Dept Recruiter atm
I just hire medical officers for the army rn
Also lol I’m In Capitol state forest rn, shit was miserable last night when we were doing night shoots
raining and wet as shit
Sounds like we're getting some of that rain tomorrow and Monday, which will be good for our fires.
Definitely
It hit the crews working out in the port really hard last night but we didn’t get touched last night working in Centralia somehow
You trying to do too much
Haha
I’m too domesticated again for all that
If it ain’t raining we ain’t training
If it’s raining…I’m inside
By far the best thing in those pics is the 4Runner. 😁
I was using my wrx lol I wish I had a truck or a 4Runner
Gross
🙁
Worst way to use free will
You should destroy all those in a fire and pretend they never existed
So I’ll put this into perspective. During my time in we had BDU, DCU, UCP and MC. I spent a large majority of it in UCP and practically all my combat time in UCP. In my closet I have a set of BDU and MC. You won’t find a piece of UCP lol
Lmao
Sheesh
To be fair, the Air Force UCP is nowhere near as bad as regular ACU. 🤣
I mean it was pretty much UCP just tiger stripe
Yep, but the tiger made it way more palatable. I never had to wear any of it, only M81 and Marpat, so I have no dog in the fight, but still.
thanks homie
Agreed, UCP is genuinely disgusting
Only time UCP has ever worked
Beez combat systems chest rig
New kit
Temp setup still have a few parts coming in the mail
Spiritus GP, double stack rifle pouch and a radio pouch
🤣
"Tactically sound" 😂
geen
Beautiful AK
i still use my UCP tarp
thats the only UCP thing i use
and i guess the liner for my issued sleeping bag but still
nice, thanks for letting me know
Steel plates 🍽️😘😘
Well can’t take you serious with that shooting stance or USEC patch lol
😂😂
hey ragged
i dont think many militaries actual use steel plates
especialy now lol
like maybe russia idk about poland
No one should ever be using steel plates lol
lol
what if youre poor
or militia or whatev
Man I love spalling.
That chicken wing though... 😜
There’s a reason when shooting steel on 1 way ranges there are minimum safe engagement distances. Steel throws off and a lot of spalling and it can injure you. Wearing that on my chest directly under my face is not my idea of a good time.
Not sure what I’d be more concerned with, getting winged in the wing or spalling to the face from my steel plate lol
okay but what if its like covered by alot of kevlar
wouldnt that help?
Possibly could assist but then you still have to take into account the energy transfer. Your body/bone structure is eating that up. Plain and simple, don’t go out and do jobs you’re not properly equipped to do is my best advice
true i guess
do all metal plates spall or is it mostly steel cuz its brittle?
I really don’t know of any other metal plates other than steel plates
titanium
and i guess some aluminium?
I’ve never looked into it but I can’t imagine much ballistic aluminum
eh theyre ok i think
🤣
Pan shot
Not sure what that means lol
From a movie
Western
This guy runs out wearing metal pans for armor
And yelling about pan shot every time he's hit
Which movie. Dont remember that
It’s from the same series that we see Buster Scruggs in
It’s called “a thousand ways to die in the west” or something. I lowkey could be butchering the name 😂
y'know
now that im finishing building my rifle, and I hopefully might get a pistol soon
why should I setup gear in the firstplace?
like why should I go out and buy a helmet, cryes, plate carrier and such
like im having some time to think and it just seems like something that may never happen if that makes sense?
You don’t NEED that kind of stuff. Most ppl just WANT it to play around in it
fair
all I think I personally need is a pistol belt with like, an ALS holster, a few mag pouches and a nice set of ear protection
just buy some budget gear and your golden
dont break your bank on super expensive gear
it all does the same thing
That’ll really do it for everyday range training
I’ve said it numerous times and I stand by it still, most of this really expensive equipment that ppl buy is a waste of money imo. If you need that quality equipment, it’ll be issued
fair
though the hypothetical "SHTF" question is basically omnipresent
and I can see why people would spend so much on plates, nods and thermals
but I just think its a bit of a fantasy?
It’s all fantasy. How many times has modern U.S. society collapsed? People have watched Red Dawn too many times
It's for fun. If someone has money to burn, and they get a kick out of it, more power to them. If someone is trying to actually justify it, that might be a stretch. I was never a fan of NVG's, and although I did have a very gucci plate carrier, plates, and helmet that I used for many years, when I retired, I gave them all to my daughter to LARP with while playing CoD. 🤣 I never wanted to see that crap again, and if S really did HTF, the last thing I'd want is a plate carrier and helmet. I'd ditch that stuff immediately.
👆
I have a variety of kit that I like to go out and occasionally run just to keep my edge sharp because I ran it for nearly 22 years professionally and still enjoy it at times. I have no desire to do it professionally anymore and don’t ever see myself realistically in an apocalyptic SHTF scenario. I don’t own all the wild Gucci shit. Just kit that works for killing steel and staying sharp on my range
I can see that. Now that I never want to touch armor again, I've been watching PLCE/ DZ Rig/ belt kit videos. I'm intrigued by the ability to carry lots of gear with the weight not on my back and shoulders. I have zero "need" for it, but I'm still considering setting up a rig for fun.
The SHTF larp fantasy is for the guys that think they missed the bus and should have went a different route in life imo
Agreed.
well I appreciate the input
I'll look into some brands to make a belt setup
I still have my active shooter plate carrier from LE that just sits in the garage collecting dust. Have zero need for it. It’s just there.
This is my larpiest kit just to run for fun. I like older 90s gear so built out a 90s Delta kit and added some civ legal 7 bangers and smokes just because I could lol
They issued crappy (literally steel...like in the recent conversation lol) plates and carriers to our guys. That's why I bought my own. We got a huge allowance for armor every few years, so I used it on a Team Wendy helmet, and a set of front, back and side Dyneema plates, and a PIG carrier.
That's a good setup. I like the minimalistic approach.
interesting move with alice gear on a modern belt
I dig it
My active shooter kit was very minimal. Literally a spiritus carrier with surplus front/back ESAPI plates. 3 rifle mags
My pistol belt only carried my G17 and baton ring. All other kit was on my outer vest carrier. My plan was as to don the plate carrier. Throw a set of cuffs in pocket and radio in another pocket and send it with rifle kit
My full time partner was on the team so he always had his full kit in our car. He did 8 years in ranger batt prior to LE and my 8 years infantry we always felt prepared to go against anything thrown against us
We pushed a two man patrol car full time partners my last 7 years together.
They started authorizing the outter vest carriers a few years before I retired, and about 75% of the folks switched to them. I never did, just because too many decades of muscle memory with the regular belt, combined with the fact that it would have made a plate carrier pretty much impossible. The PC was easy to throw on over the concealed vest, and I just used it to carry a couple extra pistol and rifle mags.
The duty belt for me was just starting to aggregate my lower back. Same for my partner. We both tried to hold off initially after the vest was authorized but it really made a difference after getting all that shit off my hips
Yeah, there's no doubt it's a better system from a work/ injury perspective (meaning the outter carrier).
if shtf those people are gonna be an expensive loot drop when cleetus with a bubbad out sks domes them
Ya I’m really at this point in my life convinced it’s a winning warrior mindset that wins those fights. I’d take the fight to anyone that wanted it regardless of what kit they had. Send it
and if it ever happens would I just be better off with a covert plate carrier and then just running a belt setup with civilian clothing and maybe a multiday assault backpack?
Backpack of what you personally think you need to survive would be suggestion. Screw armor. Everyone’s packing list is different based on task, purpose and skill set.
I'm of the humble opinion that if the day ever came you could wear and use pretty much anything you like, as it will make about a 5% difference in your survival chances (agree on the no armor). 95% of whether you live or die will come down to your decision-making ability. Not gear.
If shit went down right now I’d be fine grabbing my 30 year old plain Jane chest rig and not be concerned with the next guys gear.
Absolutely this
Don’t take a fight you can’t win. If you take a fight have a plan to win, win at all cost.
👍
fair
I don't really see myself ever really leaving the safety of my home in SHTF other than like collecting resources like food
but yeah
never really going to happen
still want to make my belt setup for the range though
what would you guys reccomend?
I do see myself mainly shooting a rifle so I'll maybe split my magazines 50/50?
2 rifle mags and maybe 2 pistol mags, and a dump pouch
I rarely go to the range, but maybe I'll start going more now, so I'm the wrong person to ask. That said, my brother, who shoots regularly, carries pretty much what you're describing. Holster, 2 pistol mags, one (maybe 2) rifle mags, and a dump pouch. Don't forget the IFAK, and more importantly, get some training to use it. I will spare you of getting on my soap box, but as a former medic, I think folks who enjoy firearm training should spend WAY more time doing medical training than is typical. Between the two skill sets, one will be utterly useless 99.9999% of the time, and the other you will use many times throughout your life, and can make a significant impact. Take a CPR/ First aid class, then take a First Responder class. If you get the bug, take a full blown EMT-B class. Valuable stuff that will just be infinately more usefull in life or in SHTF than split times on an M4.
about the IFAK
is it super necessary for someone like me?
it's not like someone is going to get hit by enemy fire while at the indoor range
but yeah I should definitely take a CPR class
Like I said, I'm incredibly biased. But my opinion is that if a person trains to take a life, they need to train to save one. IFAKs are necessary for life in general...your car should have one, your house should have one, and your range belt should have one. Yes, folks get injured on shooting ranges regularly. But even if that weren't the case, there's just no point in training and using an item designed to put holes in people unless you carry gear and training to plug them back up.
Fair take
are first aid classes like an online thing or a physical thing you have to attend?
The two main providers are AHA (American Heart Association) and the Red Cross. Both of them I believe now offer an online component, but require in-person skills test to actually be certified. CPR training is great, but in-person training for first aid is vital.
the funny thing that prepper guys forget is that even if you get hit with a plate carrier on there's a significant chance you still die without advanced medical care
and I doubt most of these prepper guys know how to reset a compound fractured ribcage and fix the lung under it at the same time
OK, getting on my soapbox now: 🤣 I just got irritated that during an entire career of firearms training, so few people made any effort at all to get medical training. And you watch the most high-speed door kicker just freeze up once holes start appearing in people and it's time to start patching them. Like bro...you carry an M4 and SWAT ninja gear, and your mind goes to water and rushes out your ears when your buddy or the baddie start bleeding. I can't wrap my head around the mindset of someone who trains in firearms and doesn't train in medical.
literally as soon as i got money and was old enough i learned to patch people up to at least a reasonable degree lol
👍
I can do most things that don't involve narcotics
That's really all that's needed. Paramedics like to be cool, but the truth is BLS saves way more lives than ALS, when it comes to trauma.
I think IFAK is the most important piece of equipment you can have at a range. A range, specifically around unknown skill set strangers is a high risk environment. An IFAK with even basic trauma knowledge can save a life if an accident occurs. Why not have it just in case.
My certs have probably expired, I can't remember how long they lasted
And then it's a matter of who's license you're operating under. I let me ALS expire and found I wasn't hampered by it.
👍
yeah I was reminded by how stupid people can be at times
and P320 owners
Too soon! 🤣
for halloween I'll be dressing up as a eunuch
it involves appendix carrying a sig
I'm not ashamed to eat crow. I was a P320 armorer (and Classic Series SIG), and initially I was massively on the P320 bandwagon. I will say, I still think that the P365 is an amazing piece of kit.
you should never be ashamed to admit you were wrong at one point
do you know how many people are just incapable of changing their opinions on things when better info is presented lol
that's the real shame
Oh, for sure.
I personally have no clue on the 365 so I can't really speak on it
the P365 X macro seems like a fine handgun and I wanted one for a bit
though im a bit skeptical of sig
I kind of don't trust sig at all anymore, purely for the way they handled the 320 problems. If they'd just owned the mistake and fixed it that'd be one thing
but now I kinda have doubts for everything from them
To be fair, that's happened with a LOT of gun companies over the years, including Glock, but yeah, it does leave a sour taste in the mouth.
I left law enforcement pushing two years ago and joined the railroad and now work for one of if not the largest railroads in the world. During a training course at the beginning of the year during end of course evaluations one of my course critiques was all new hire training programs should include basic first aid/CPR cert..within a month every class from there on out there is a day dedicated to certification of CPR of all new hires. I can’t understand why it wasn’t a thing until then. I’m currently pushing to have trauma medical kits installed on every locomotive. Railroad is easy but accidents are unforgiving.
Railway work is fucking dangerous
I like it! Good for you, that's truly awesome.
not having everyone able to at least do some basic medical is kinda crazy
The horror stories that come out of railroad work is actually haunting, even if it's not super common when it does happen it's bad
It was insane that the new hire class is like 15 days out of state program and didn’t have any medical portion.
That really is alarming. I mean nannies and bus drivers have to have the cert.
trains seem VERY unforgiving
is there much you can do in a line of work that could remove entire limbs with ease
tourniquets and other things save lives but can it do much for someone who's been crushed by a 70+ ton chunk of metal?
Ya an injury is usually one of a very few things and on extreme spectrums. Twisted ankle…amputation/death
I'm not sure if it was true but i read a story where a guy was sandwiched between the couplers of 2 cars and they basically coupled through him
Bugging out for the night. Good chatting with you two. 👍
he was still alive so they called the priest and his family to give last rites and say goodbyes and shit and he died right after they pulled em
Goodnight 👋
Have a good one homie
That’s happened in multiple occasions throughout the years
yeah that shits gruesome
Ya I’ve seen a lot of gruesome stuff in my life and I hope that’s one I never have to add to the list
now I definitely feel like getting an IFAK for the belt now
maybe some nausea bags too
looking at the flatline fiber co IFAK
they also make the sling I have on my rifle
fill kit comes with
ye i have a pouch like this on my belt and full kit in my car when i go range, most important thing to have + tourniquet on belt
the one on the belt looks like a kebab, if i open it it wont close again but it's there for an actual emergency
funny name
honestly preppers in america are quite dumb
like if america colapses youre probably gona die anyway
if it was somewhere like cambodia or a place with military coups etc then makes sense
but fucking america wihch is a very stable country is ehhh
lol I get annoyed when the infantry kids don’t pay attention during CLS and TC3 training for this very reason
But sarge why do we need to know this stuff…there’s no war happening and we have a doc
Because I can die
I’m an easy fucking target
lol
They aim for the guys with the antenna or the biggest backpack

It’s one of those were too far removed from combat again things. Not enough combat patches and badges running around to keep the lessons learned alive
People also got used to the GWOT way of doing things where air medevac is easily accessible
Near peer you will end up sitting at the CCP for a long time
Next war air will be black most of the time
Our guys always took the medical stuff serious because they were being forced to do it real world and they carried those lessons on
👍 Yeah, it figures that with your MOS you'd be as frustrated as I am. lol
looking at getting one of these battle belts (and the inner belt) from defense mechanisms
and these magazines from essatc
There are a lot of great inner/outer battle belt companies these days. Mine is a Warrior Poet Society rebranded take, but there are others that are just as good. Those Esstac KYWI pouches are what pretty much everyone uses for DA type stuff. I love mine, but I would recommend not doing the piggyback style like you have linked. It's personal preference, but I prefer the standalone double pistol pouch and then one or two single rifle pouches. They stick out less far from your body, and when you remove a rifle mag the pistol mag in front would flop a bit, and it's just plain easier to grab and index a pistol mag that doesn't have a rifle mag behind it.
Thats fair
though I do imagine my pistol belt being like "rifleman"-ish?
I dont want to clutter my waist with multiple pouches when I could simply stack them ontop of one another
I also have a smaller waist so I have to save space where I can
So there are two ways of looking at it. If you want a Direct Action "go fast" type rig, then sacrifice more space around your waste and carry fewer mags. A single pouch will just be much faster and better to repeatedly pull from in training and in use. If you're going for a heavier loadout, then honestly a "battle belt" would not be my choice. If you want volume over speed, I'd go for a full-blown padded warbelt, or even better yet a British PLCE.
I was looking at a warbelt for a while with suspenders but I figured why not go for something lighter and more practical for range use
Yep, and that's the tradeoff. Speed vs comfort and carry capacity. You can have one, but not both.
I use a British PLCE, great piece of kit 100% recommend
👍 My next rig will very likely be a JayJay's "chamelon" belt kit.
however for the battle belt it'd probbaly be better suited for speed and range shooting and it's not that much either
3 mags of 5.56 and 3 pistol mags
and I think i'd be fine with the stacked magazines if I just
train with them
Now THAT's a rifleman rig. :D
Compared to my chest rig
My recommendation would still be a double pistol mag, with maybe a double or triple AR pouch behind that on the belt. I still wouldn't stack, but that's just me.
Still getting stuff for it pretty temporary setup
I'll figure out what works best for me with experimenting with the belt
nothing is really perfect the first time
Are you a lanky guy or more built
lankier side
alright I don't recommend carrying a super bulky kit then
i mean is it bulky?
3 magazines doesnt seem like alot
You can but it'll be pretty awkward
Like, stacking shit on top of each other and overloading
Keep it to your body
Very true. Many of us have changed a lot over time. I just look at it like this, if you're to the point of needing a pistol reload, there is absolutely nothing in the world you want to be able to do faster or more efficiently. 🤣
The reason why I like the PLCE belt kit is because it stays close to your body while allowing maximum carry load for most scenarios
Don't be like the Russians in Ukraine with super bulky plate carriers carrying 12+ mags
I wanted a similar system though albeit with a more modern "botique" option
the carcajou tactical webbing system
though I did have a little chat last night about the practicality of having an entire kit being excessive?
so I want a pistol belt now
Carcajou makes good stuff
Just go with whatever you want man
But remember what "mission" you are carrying out and what your kit is built for
Don't be like the guys that build their kit on Instagram larpers
theres just so many options and things I could do
im at that age where im finally being able to make the stuff I wanted and enter the shooting/gear space
So, I was part of the convo last night, and if we're talking about the same thing, it was plate carriers and helmets that we were mainly saying was overkill. A belt kit might be overkill too, it totally depends on what you want it for. If you're just looking for something fun at the range, then yep, I think a battle belt with a few mags is perfect. If you're thinking hiking with a combat loadout, sustainment, a belt kit is the way to go. Crossfire, Carcajou, and JayJay's are the best in the business for belt kits.
Appalachia is perfect for belt kit
Agreed
like
im a bit lost when there so many options when it comes to gear
and so many configurations
Think of your environment
Urban, rural?
and then theres practaility and not looking like a goofball at the range
Build your kit off use and scenario not necessarily looks
Suburban with forest outskirts and alot of lakes/ponds and stuff
Okay
So rural-ish
In that ballpark
Id recommend a chest rig honestly
Something that can hold 4+ mags plus the addition of extra mags + an ifak and add-ons
the issue is
where will I use this gear?
I only have indoor ranges at my disposal
if you only want to use this for a range just get minimalized gear
hence kinda why I wanted the battle belt
Doesn't matter. Wear it around your house. Naked.
Hell yeah 🤣
🤣
I literally never use my plates despite that being the first thing I bought
I always returned to my chest rig and belt kit
Pro tip: don't get shot in the first place
Trust me after wearing plates for the first time in the summer made me reconsider why I even bought them in the first place 😂
yeah I live down in the hellhole Florida so I definitely dont want to wear plates
Hell no
Yeah
Stick with a chest rig
Honestly
like the look of webbing gear more
Good point
Well before you spend a shit load of money on an expensive piece of kit buy a shittier version and run it to see how you like it
😂
only if I could relate
yet
See this is the financially sound way of doing this.
But we all know how that ends up working out
The broke person way of doing it
"just a plate carrier"
*Winds up spending 4k on nods
BUTTT
I do use my rifle scope to peep at how much time is left on my air fryer from all the way from my room
Nods and thermals. Oy vey

See now that is practical
Dude nods and thermals are the way to go now
I've been saying this forever
Glad to see you on that
I'm really happy I went with this setup my last deployment. It was immensely useful.
Oh I bet
Thermals are a game changer
I can't even touch thermals rn 😂
if I ever got nods i'd probably get like a fusion device like this
That's gonna be a while till I get some
Just steal some nods off a national guard guy they're used to leaving their shit all over the place anyway
mh
why not just take a bradley
the 25mm bushmaster would be a great addition to my aresenal
Be like that one German dude who had a panther in his garage
I wonder how many Russian tanks are in Ukrainian farmers garages
At least 2 per family
Bmp for daily commute and T72 for off-road
His and hers
I was just writing that lol
Lmao
but yeah if we could go back to the pistol belt
I dont really see the issue with the piggyback style magazines
they dont seem that hard to use and that much slower?
I don't know what a piggyback magazine is sorry
oh it's like this
(this is the taller one so the pistol mag can be placed higher up)
Oh I have a few inserts like that.
But they go in one of my carriers. Not on a belt
I have actual pouches like that on my belt i don't use the pistol one lol
would you consider them any slower or the same speed as drawing from a seperate pouch or
since that was something Acadia brought up
but im sure it's like a training thing
I don't know. Drawing while getting shot at throws all that crap out the window
It definitely saves real estate on your belt though
like I would do seperate pouches but I'm a smaller build so
seperate pouches would get pushed further back from the ideal drawing spot
There we go. Found a pic
I go for that magazine first always. And my dump pouch is right behind it
agilite </3

mfs will spend 30k on nvgs nad a helmet and like 5k on plates just to never wear em
What plates cost 5k
But yes your point stands lol.
Idk but theyd prolly buy a "experimental"plate (scan)
Dcam
Scam

like
the reason im such a cheap fuck
is because im probably never gona use it
That's not cheap. That's financially competent
yeah true
Drill a couple holes in it and hang it from a tree!
Just use a solid steel plate, yes the ricochet could cause a round to fly up and hit you in the neck, yes… the inertia from the round could fracture ribs but just throw some Kevlar behind it and your good
yknow
aluminium plates would be fun
like 5mm good aluminium is probably equivilant to like 2mm steel
Yes rounds reflect into you arms and stuff too if it’s a hp round so it’s not recommended to use steel for that reason
wouldnt hp roudns get fucking anihilated by any plate
All fragments would explode outwards
Neck, arms and even legs if you’re unlucky
cant that also happen with ceramic sorta
Yes but way more chance of catching it
meh
lets be real if i was going to get shot im most likely going to die
lol
They should have small angles or fragment dispersion on the top part so no spall comes in contact with the neck or face
Some do but I don’t see that all the time
Stop copying me
Arcteryx leaf
You guys cautiously optimistic about this ceasefire? I’m hoping for the best for you boys
I'm just happy everyone left alive went home. Thanks Donnie T
They only sell to mil or Leo. If you have any pals, they can order for you. Usually discounted.
Found some on eBay for 800$
A bit out of the price range
Yeah
They're like half that new
Me too brother. Hope it all finds a permanent solution one of these days
Same route I'm going here in a year or so
They won't disarm. So the show goes on.
You want to join the airborne? Hooah (I think that's what you yanks say)
Most likely but I’m hopeful forces better outcome than the other 20 times
Hell yeah, talking with a recruiter rn, just finishing school and I'm off
Oh boy
For the love of god only the POGs say that lol.
Are you a Jew? I cosplay as one basically.
Lol
I wanna get their belt
yo man
i saw that russian guys have some like kevlar clothing whatev
the fsb or whatev
does west or whatev have any equivilant?
Dunno!
oh well
@plush topaz you ever use any ufpro clothing, pants specifically?
Solid pants
My boss has a pair
I personally do not. But a lot of my guys do. Excellent uniforms. Top notch. I just don't like the pocket layouts. Personal preference.
thank you both
Fuckin sick dude

Would you guys say that it’s a viable tactic to shine an IR flashlight into the eyes of enemies to blind their night vision equipment? What I’m asking is couldn’t you blind someone’s optics by shining it into them?
Yes. That is a very common border security tactic.
The Lebanese army uses insanely powerful floods pointed towards the Israeli side at night. We could never get a good look at their operations at night unless using thermals.
aight cool because I have a sightmark wraith 4k and it comes with a IR flashlight and its pretty bright so I think its more than capable of doing that (when I say bright I mean through the scope)
I put it on my Springfield Hellion
Idk wether to call it the VHS-2 or the hellion
I probably wouldn't do that on an infantry level. You'll give away your position.
But ir lights are super useful regardless
Its strictly desperate measures, but I have it set on the right side of my handguard with the button easily accessible by my left hands thumb
So I can toggle it pretty fast
It has 3 brightness settings though, then it turns off which I dont really like but oh well
nonsense, you just need an ir light on your nods powerful enough to blind the opfor so they cant use theirs

Does that even exist
My admin light on my nods can barely light up a thing
But that's all they're for really. Just basic indoor or starless nights
just get an ir filter for this thing and tape it to your helmet 😂
Does Anyone have any suggestions for<250USD active earpro that I don’t need to stuff with foam earplugs to make actually hearing safe? I’ve been reading up on different models and brands but have just ended up more unsure, was wondering if anyone here had insight or experience you might want to share.
Walker razors are what i use
They are like $35-40 at bass pro shops
I shot at least 100 rounds yesterday and they held up just fine
Ive had my set for years
My buddies Frankenstein ak (scopes in the bag somewhere)
nothing is frankerstein here
its just a basic bitch ak with cheap parts
stock is old but gold, I wouldn’t mod a Russian Kalashnikov. American, Romanian or Chinese Ak’s are junk and so is the ammo but I can see why people in the west buy knock offs out of desperation. Imagine buying a junk rifle and spending a lot of money on high quality parts … that also doesn’t make a lot of sense does it?
Dude
A majority of the AKs in the us are a mix of Russian
Chinese
Romanian
The works
No Russian aks in America or Canada bro
The fuck you mean
Yes there is
Please stop
In the 60s ?
YES
Find me one
So what’s yours lol…
And vepr imports well into the 2010s
Romanian
Cause Russian 74s were going well up to 3 to 4k
And I was offered a Romanian one for 1k
So your spending money on high quality parts on Romanian Balkan junk got it
Gypsy ak
😂😂
No they are not
Yes they are
Brother no they’re not respectfully…
Yes they are
Whole different animal
Even in the 60s
They really were built the same
Hell into the 2000s they started casting more parts
In the 100 series
Cause the 74s were imported in a lower quantity compared to 47s
Why would Romanian aks sell for $1000 if they’re just as good as Russian aks
Plenty
Find me one 7.62 Russian ak
Russian aks went down to 1k in the us
Get a time machine to 2010
You could have gotten a brand new saiga or vepr for like $500
These days they are more because obama banned russian gun imports
Also chinese AKs arent junk tf are you on about
They are probably like the 3rd or 4th best one
Number 1 is russian ofc, then bulgarian, then either east german or chinese imo
Our market for guns and equipment is higher than any country
East German for sure better than Bulgarian
Russian aks are not number 1
They are consider that since it's the basic of other countries builds
But there are plenty with canted sights crappy paint the works
Like Russian aks have some of the cheapest finish
It's called fudds who don't know better
Or people who are just playing the market
Dumbasses like you
Who eat up anything they say
I didn't buy a wasr 10
Your the dumbass
So your ignorance and stupidity is showing
Solid aks
Idk what yall are on about
As an american civilian in 2025 id argue a wasr-10 might be the best new manufactured AK you can get
Tldr this dumbass over here doesn't believe the US got any AK imports
Ofc there are no imports from russia, ukraine, or china anymore
My dad has a russian saiga 12
thats not a 60's thing
BRO I JUST EXPLAINED WE HAD IMPORTS UP TO THE 2010S
And ive heard a lot of mixed things about the modern polish guns
In 1968 they banned the importation of “assault weapons”
We had imports for years
Never closed imports
However all they did was put the guns in hunting rifle chassis when they imported them
Then swapped out the furniture once they reached the US
It really didn't change much
that is still how they do it today with guns like the wasr-10
They put em in hunting rifle chassis or whatever at the factory in romania
They aren't
Whatever they need to do so they dont fit the legal definition of an “assault weapon”
There are people putting hundreds of thousands of rounds on Romanian builds
Hell battlefield Las Vegas mostly runs Romanian aks
For machine gun hosts
Then they ship em in to the US and then the importer does the final modifications to change them back into their standard configuration
Because they’re cheap
is there any reason i shouldnt buy a jakl upper
lol…
Adding the muzzle break, swapping the furniture, etc
Dog shit out of spec
Mostly
Kalashnikov builds cheap guns?
Is that the PSA thing?
yeah
Or the new polish AKs
Yes cause modern 100 series AKs use a lot of cast parts as a standardizer
Honestly i have two PSA ar’s i built from parts kits that run great
But idk about their non standard stuff
Romania 🇷🇴 builds a better ak than the founder 🇷🇺?
jakl is something weird and non standard
Many countries build better aks
It's not copium when it's true
i wish i could still get a 10" gen 2 180 upper
We are talking 100s of thousands of rifles built every year by multiple countries
There are many other countries building AKs to the same quality if not better than Russia
Respectfully lil bro
The gas block on my Russian ak is worth the factory that builds Romanian aks
Do any countries issue those better ARs though?
😂😭
You are smoking meth if you believe the main county of origin makes the best
Many are swapping over
Like sure i would take an FN made AR over a colt USA
Canada has always
But the belgians dont issue them
Colt canada has always been on par with colt USA
Austria is making their own
Marginially better in some ways
Finland
And all of them are worse than some of the bougie companies like daniel defense or whatever
Britain has always had ars in hands
Germany makes their own ar variant
With the 416 series
Besides the HK-416 basically all AR-15 rifles that are issued in world militaries are either colt canada, colt, or FN
Bro SIG can’t even make gun that doesn’t ghost shoot its self
America’s new contract btw
There are companies in other countries that make AR-15s but they arent the issued military weapon for said country
There are 2 sigs
And both are completely different
I have a german friend who owns a german made AR-15 but that doesnt mean that it is the issued weapon of the german army
You need to specify
Russia is very mid
Ok as you wish
They are alright but not amazing
lol
It's a basic build rifle
I would say soviet, AKs, especially from the AKM onwards are the best commie AKs
Modern russia is kinda mid though tbh
They aren't
Bro thank you for being objective
They are pretty standard
They are the standard to which everyone else is judged on
Exactly
And everyone else for the most part is judged to be worse
I’m telling you brother you get what you pay for if Romanian aks were god tier you wouldn’t be buying one for $1000 bucks
You get what you pay for
Simple
They are standard but they aren't better
Junk…
Imo the only military AKs that are better than the soviet ones are the valmet and the galil
When a lot of the AKs being built are pretty well matched
But those arent even communist so do they really count?
East germany and bulgaria also made great rifles
As did china and yugoslavia to a lesser extent
In a way better
I owned an East German side folder great fun just not on par with Russia. 🇷🇺
I’m speaking from owning the damn thing
Both
Yeah I've owned and been around plenty of aks
Really the only countries who made “bad” AKs were albania and maybe hungary
You’ve never owned a Russian ak
And even then they are still decent rifles
China was really it I'd say
Still better than a lot of the american made slop from the 2000s and 2010s
That’s fine
American made aks are buyers remorse at the counter
Cause they sold off the junky beat to shit ones to countries they hated
I’d take a Romanian ak over American ak
I've been around enough of them
But that’s as far as I’m willing to compromise
Especially on the 100 series
There were alright
Some with canted irons
Or paint chipping off
I would agree though 100 series and especially the AK-12 are very mid
Like for a modern production they were alright
They are a product of their time
During the soviet times the weapons manufacturers were government ran and had infinite time and money and resources to make the best weapons possible
Whereas today they have much less funding and are under much more pressure to make more modern weapons to try and keep up with the west
With the ultimate example of this being the AK-12
The temu tactical knockoff of the family
Later model ak 12s are slowly turning themselves around I will say
They are still cool dont get me wrong
The newer ones are a little better
But nothing I'd go crazy for
The 200 series is what they should have went with
But when at least half of the budget goes to the factory owner’s yacht you are gonna run into issues
Especially considering that the standards for what is expected out of a modern combat rifles are so much higher than they were in prior decades
In the 1970s all you needed were iron sights and for the thing to have at least like 5 moa accuracy
That's the hope
But now they want sub 1.0 moa accuracy, optics compatibility, modularity in every component, more features, more accessories, etc etc
But most of the time it was more twords 2 to 4
This is my 100 yard chicken wing shot
Paired with less funding
Moa
That is the reason why modern russian AKs are worse than the soviet ones
😭😭😭
Nice
My favorite rifle i own is unironically a PSA 20 inch AR with a detachable carry handle rear sight
You are not 100 yards
Even meters you are off
I was nailing an 8 inch steel target i had set up between two posts with a chain at like 200 yards with my irons yesterday, though granted i was resting on the bed of my truck
Meters and yards aren't too far off from each other
I’ll take a video next time
Based
I got a spot I can maybe reach 300
Also yeah i think 100 meters is like 110 yards or something
Or vise versa
But I need more looks outs
Cause I don't need to freak people out
It's off a ATV trail
So id rather be safe
A temu vest?
Those were the steel plates I was shooting at
Great carrier
A little heavy
But I manage
They all are great
Gg
I think you are having the remorse with how much copium you are smoking tonight
You literally have proven to have a lack of historical context and studying of the rifle you are arguing over
Your ignorance is so bad you fumbled the distance you claim to shoot it
Very poorly
Brother in Vietnam Americans were throwing their m16s in the dirt
You can’t even make a good domestic rifle
Let alone a good ak variant
Stop
The M16 was a brand new platform
That needed more development
Now it's one of the most popular rifles
That out performs the AK
In Mudd tests
Yep
Ye
was just adding you donmt worry
im thinking about belt gear and LBE again
good gear just isnt small enough for me
tried on my brother's battle belt and if I wanted it cinched properly, there would be practically no space for any pouches
do I rather run a battle belt/pistol belt
or get the LBE i wanted for a while?
the LBE would technically have less room for stuff but would allow me to carry more things
just do what u want lol
the objectively better ones
My father picked up a Zastava a bit ago
Great rifle
It’s a milled RPK lower if I’m not mistaken
I'm not an AK guy, but the only AK I've ever owned was a few years back, and that's what it was. It seemed very nicely built, and yes, I was told the same thing about the reciever.
Yeah it shoots well, he’s put a custom trigger and a dovetail mount for an optic on it. Great gun and it actually groups well for an AK
👍
Technically it's kind of its own thing
Because the original country Yugoslavia
Never really got the technical data package if I remember right
