Like one rope bridges to cross rivers or streams. Climbing an rappelling mountains. Navigating through mountains. Actually being able to walk in the woods at night. We do a lot more then any National Guard unit in the state do

Climbing and rappelling is cool and all but it looks like the most basic stuff that matters is just overlooked. Having NCOs show kids how to set up a kit and why mag direction/placement matters in a gunfight for efficient reloads and keeping the gun running. NCOs getting down behind weapon systems and ensuring that the shooter can actually see and not just throwing optics on shit it’s not intended for. None of the cool stuff matters if you can’t see thru your optics or are fumbling reloads and can’t win the fight.

I honestly feel bad for the guard/reserve guys. The entire model really has the potential to set guys up for failure imo. Barely working together 1 weekend a month with NCOs being a “second” job then leading, teaching and realistically getting kids prepared for combat probably isn’t a priority. Let’s get this weekend over with and back to real life until next months drill.
