Honestly I can’t say from first hand experience. Getting into schools was very difficult when I was in due to deployments. I had a slot to sniper school, canceled. I had slot to RSLC. Canceled. Passed the Pre-Ranger Test for a slot to Ranger School. Didn’t get go cuz if deployment

All the “extra” training I got was pretty much deployment based oriented. Urban breachers course for explosive breaching. Site Exploitation instructed by FBI, when they canceled my platoons RSLC slots my 1SG was absolutely pissed. He had just got promoted out of Ranger School as an RI and put together a really good training program tailored after Ranger School and put our platoon thru it for like a month of really solid small unit training. Lots of recon, patrolling, ambush type stuff. Also did Sniper Employment Leaders Course which was like Sniper School but the stalking week was replaced by planning and operations orders stuff

Can’t say for RASP. Never went but I know it’s changed a lot. Used to be RIP which was just a 3 week smoke fest trying to make you quit. If you passed you went ranger batt as a private but not having any knowledge of your job in batt. Now RASP is still difficult but it’s training oriented where you learn lots of tasks related to your job when you get there

They also misunderstand the whole gain and maintain enemy contact aspect of it because they think they gotta engage the enemy directly but in reality they just have to be close enough to see and act so they can develop situations in a pinch
