i don’t recommend UHWPE pure plates, all plates that are worth getting will have some kind ceramic in it. but if you can spend the money, high end high com plates or hoplite plates. and by military rounds i mean ones civilians can’t access that aren’t AP. 55a1, m80a1, 56a1 etc etc

and UHWPE has problems with back face deformation

modern ceramic plates have sections to them across the entire strike face

like 35-40 sections

and the main thing is the primers. pretty hard to find military grade primers. plus the composition doesn’t have lead whatsoever in most of them and it’s hard to load them the same at that capacity without blowing loads of money

most plates are going to be a ceramic and UHWPE composite anyways. hoplite/LTC made the ESAPI plates for the military for a while and are a super good choice. highcom has had many contracts and also make really good body armor

high end hoplite plates are gonna be around 1.5-2k though

highcom will be a little cheaper but a little heavier

normally just means when it starts to delaminate. could possibly lose ballistic protection but not likely

this is an old SAPI plate from 2005, so it would’ve expired 7-12 years ago and it still stopped damn near an entire magazine of 193/855

super good plates won’t use kevlar and will have really good coatings so it’s not as big of a worry

you’re probably gonna want lvl 4 plates then
