This kind of thing can happen when shooting mix of compatible calibers through revolvers without cleaning out the carbon rings that the shorter loads leave behind in the cylinder. When I shoot 45 LC or 454 cas through my 460, I brush out the cylinder when switching between cartridges.

454 size wise is almost enough since 460 and 500 are very comparable sized actions, and the 454 chambers in 460 guns

The issue

460 and 500 are massively over pressured compared to any normal shelf revolver load

You will detonate a 454 into a million pieces with a 460 loading

The 500 is barely lower pressure

These are 60 and 65k psi cartridges, that’s 308 level

Actually 460 is higher

Yknow I actually forgor newer 454 brass is rated 60k since guns don’t really eat that very nicely
