Hey so FYI Kilmov Street Extract on Streets of Tarkov is currently bugged for signal flare pistol with green flare cartridge. Just popped it down Kilmov street twoards extract ( same direction anf height as ive dont all wipe since they fixed the extract) and i ran towards the stage and died in two shots from the unseen AI Sniper. - Dont waste your time with this extract as it is currently bugged.

You can't realy put that amount of info in one discord post, better find a youtube guide.
Short rundown: everything you take in raid you lose when you die, everything you take with you to extraction you keep. (everything in your secure container is safe tough). Assemble kit, get in raid, get out complete tasks along the way and repeat. You'll die quite a bit tho.
Ammo choice matters a lot, you'll want ammo that reliably penetrates armour class 4 (what most people run nowadays) or you want to aim for kneecaps that can't be armoured.
Remember to bring healing items, don't underestimate headphones and always bring some.

Either go in as your PMC that can complete tasks and uses equipment of your choice or as a scav who gets a randomized kit every time to clean up leftover loot. Don't teamkill as a scav. Run scavs often while learning as it's safer.

Bookmark the wiki, especialy for task guides, maps and ammo charts (especially the ammo chart). Bookmark tarkov.dev and mapgenie too for more info.

The game works on a wipe system where progress is reset every couple of months to keep things fresh, there will be one this month. Everyone else will be running end game gear but use the remainder of this wipe to learn the basics so you get a headstart for next wipe.

It can be a miserable game more often than not but the low lows make the high highs all the better.

Learning the map layout should probably be the first thing you do, stick to one map at a time and focus on finding your way out, everything else can come later.
You could join some voice channels down in this discord to join a pre made group if you need help, avoid joining random groups in game that you aren't in a voice chat with.

I’d also LOVE to use the FAL more, but it’s even worse than the M4 in that sense

Of having to spend asinine amounts of money to get it to an even somewhat controllable recoil pattern

I’m past wipes I’ve pulled “meta” FALs off people who I either got lucky and killed, or teammates killed and didn’t want the gun, and it’s recoil is horrible

Even when they were kitted out, which I don’t know if the FAL faced the same issues the M14 did in its early days where full auto fire was obscenely hard to control

The M14 had recoil that GIs were basically told, if you need full auto and you’re carrying an M14…use something else

Which is why eventually it became a selective fire and then only semi auto rifle

(The reason I went on that rant is because I wonder if the FAL faced the same issues irl)
