I feel like there was a turing point around this time that really started cutting into the "mil sim" side of tarkov and pushing it to be what it is today for better or worse.
HOWEVER , I 100% think the game runs and feels "better" over all , even though the "gameplay" isn't what I fell in love with orginally.

Tarkov uses picture in picture rendering with scopes, which means when you ADS with a scope the game renders everything in front of you again through it
so basically everything you see is rendered twice, that takes a toll on your PC therefore your FPS drop
aside from turning down your graphics settings there's literally nothing you can do, it's just a downside of using such a solution
You can try to mitigate it by just having more FPS in general so that when you do scope in you don't feel it as much, but you can't get rid of it entirely
