My advice to everyone is pretty much the same, you have three options.

1. Check everything using https://tarkov-market.com/ and the info it provides for quest and hideout requirement and for flea prices. It's otherwise impossible to know, without significant experience or asking other people every time, what you'll need anytime soon, or what sells for substantial money to other players. Then you can decide what things you'll need soon enough, and which items sell for enough, to hold onto. This is quicker in the long run and more profitable, but is tedious.
2. Check what you'll need right now, check what hideout upgrades and quests you could do if you simply had the right items (Not locked behind other prerequisites).
