I also recommend you set your pagefile size since you're running 16gb ram

At 400-500 meters is where m80 catches up and beats m855. If you're doing shots over that distance, then yes. 308 is better, if you're under 400 meters, 5.56 is better.

for sniping you need to go through a class 4 helmet at least, m855a1 and m955 are pretty equal in regards to their max one shot headshot distance against class 4 being at about 150m, meanwhile m993 and m61 can one shot headshot class 4 at over 1000m.
In short, if you're going for shots over 150m, 308 is the way to go, under it doesn't really matter, but against class 4 5.56 is technically better because of the better bullet velocity.
