I wouldn’t have been able to do that without knowledge of how it’s laid out in there and how he really didn’t have much of any other path

I don't really like nades, it's very personal but if you don't know how to use them they won't do you any good and you'll alert the entire map that you're having a fight.
Learning where people camp isn't really necessary as long as you're using your vision correctly and always checking corners etc. Getting camped something you have to always expect, you don't really need to know the places, it's pretty obvious most of the time. Focusing on obversvations can be smart, but if it means that you're walking slowly through dangerous places it might be better to do the obversvation before making a move across a field or whatever.
Knowing your gun doesn't really matter if you use semi-auto, full auto just makes you spray and pray and it's really bad for improving your aim. I don't recommend using it at all. I use semi on all guns regardless of recoil.

From my experience with granades, if you if you don't know what you're doing you're going to put yourself at disatvantages. When people throw nades I just push while their throwing or I stay put and just let the nade explode next to me and hope it doesn't kill me, and then continue the fight from there. The faster you're up and going again the better because people are cought off guard. In my experience nades only really work when they kill me, which is rare. Most of the time I kill the guy throwing the nades simply because they put themselfs at a disadvantage.

This is a decent take and I have done this myself. But unless you over expose or throw from a dumb spot you most likely wont die to a push. Also this can be used in the reverse where u pull out nade and bait a push as u swap back to weapon instantly

The tactical aspect of combat in tarkov is the main thing to winning fights. Nades might help you in achiving that, but most likely they will only hinder you, especially if you don't really know the basics of how to win a fight using only a gun. By all means try to use nades, but if it's not working out I'd suggest waiting and picking up nades again at a later point when you've got more skills regarding basic combat.

Depends on what you mean with "taking things slow". If you're just moving slow, looting slow, fighting slow, then yes it's easy to kill. If you're taking your time making sure to cover every angle, not running around like a maniac, it will definetely save you more than not if you're doing it correct.
