both playstyles have benefits and negatives

as a rat you always get the scraps and the less valuable loot, you are susceptible to peekers advantage and generally easier to kill in pvp. Stealth in this game is not viable to be completely undetected vs high levels as one mistake reveals your position and presence

7.62x39 PS is a solid pick when you are low level. There are some other options, but generally I'd go for that until you unlock some better ammo for the other calibers.

7.62x39 PS fired from a VPO (from Skier) or an OP-SKS (from Jaegar) is about the best damage against armor you’ll get from level 1 traders. UMP-45 (buy knives from Fence to barter for at Peacekeeper) is good too, but you’ll rely on headshots.

You can also upgrade a VPO to an AKM for full auto at Workbench 1

face shields are commonly level 3 and 4 as well so if your ammo cant pen that people could potentially survive headshots with the proper helmets

but the game has a high skill cap and if you want to compete it requires a bit of time and effort

so id take it less seriously and just have fun with the game... and then try to be better every consecutive wipe

well scavs dont wear alot of armor and ai scavs have robotic movement so you could in theory recognize them, plus they make noise when they spawn in so that also sets them apart from pmcs. You could also use car extract or help a player scav to get out and youll get your karma back and Fence will thank you for that and possibly give you a gift.

Pocket watch is a quest most people like to camp or watch due to the fact that it's in the middle of the open. If you're running customs, look for a group to play with and it'll be easier since it's in a hot zone or an area you most likely will pass through if you spawn near Big Red (Director's Office) / Red Warehouse.

If you feel like your being followed by a pscav, you can kill them, and then the next raid just take a car extract
