You're looking for the Deltapoint on the top

The top part is only the housing without the actual red dot

Open inventory, "Del" to drop armor. If you have space in the backpack "Ctrl + click" the armor to move it there, "alt + click"*** to put it back on. Backpack strat is the fastest and safest way to go about it
