Get scav junk boxes asap, they help a lot. In the mean time, sell all cheap magazines that you can simply buy back from traders and put the ammo in ammo boxes. If you dont have an ammo box and its cheap ammo, sell it too. Take off mags and pistolgrip/foregrip from weapons to make them take less space.

you have to get lucky not to run into anyone per se, but if you die a lot it might be worth to slow down a bit. no sprinting early on or you give yourself away too quickly. go slowly, listen, watch around you, try to figure out where fights are happening and pick your route accordingly
