as a newer player, just running the barebones SKS is better than fiddling with attachments. Youre still dying waaaay too often so building guns isnt worth it. The sks is good for what it is and you should focus on learning maps, killing scavs.

Once you feel more comfortable you can take other guns

allright heres a thing with helmets in general, not just for scav runs:

at pretty much any point in the game. Helmets will always be penetrated by any armor. (unless you get the hier tier stuff). The only reason to buy a helmet is to get a low chance at deflecting bullets with a ricochet chance.

This means its viable to simply not wear helmets, because if you get shot in the head its a kill in 9 out of 10 situations anyways.

the thing that helped me the most is to find a safe money route. This way you have a stead income while killing 1 or 2 scavs here and there. It helps you learn the game, and gives you the money you need when you want to invest into gear for actual quests

U can, if you shoot a black part it spreads the damage of the bullet evenly, if you hit a black stomach with an 80 damage round it will spread the 80 damage around the body evenly, or any blacked part for that matter

when any other limb is 0, any further damage that limb takes is multiplied by 1.5 and then spread across all other limbs (including head/torso). So you can kill someone by shooting any other part of their body, because that damage is spread passively to the head/torso

every map has extracts that are open pretty much every time. Customs for example, if you spawn at the big red warehous area, you will always have the ZB-1011 exit. If you spawn on the other side you will always have the "crossroads" exit. So learn these two first and then go from there

I 100% agree. Friends can really boost your learning speed in this game. Especially since most people can learn, adapt and soak knowledge very quickly when you see someone solve a problem or tackle a situation. (This is extremely helpful in teaching maths for example. The problem is much easier when you see how someone else solves it first.)
