Probably you die immediately as PMC which is why your survival rate is low. Learn spawns so you can avoid dying immediately

If you don't die right off the bat then maybe something else is going on. You can get a sherpa #sherpa-info to tell you if you are making big mistakes, it helped me quite a bit.

vendor all of the basic meds besides one or two each for your next few raids: bandages/splints/cheese/esmarch and so on

use and get rid of those unstackable backpacks, give mechanic any ammo you won't be using in the near future other than maybe some high tier stuff - same for any basic magazines
try and get some more of those rigs that have more slots than they take. I use those for all the small stuff that won't go into my scav boxes

For the scav boxes I'd open up tarkovmarket on another monitor if you can and keep the stuff with decent value. Anything with lower value you can click the link to the wiki page and it'll tell you how many of something to keep for find in raid quests

you earn scav karma by extracting as a scav, or car extracts and I think if you kill a pmc that has killed scavs (not sure about that one, I've heard about it).
You can use the scav karma to have a higher chance of commanding AI scavs as a bot scav, and at 6 scav karma you get access to fence LL4. he gives you access to anything lost in raid brought by PMCs that was not insured

scavs look homeless, and no a pmc cant wear exactly the same things as a pmc altough it could be similar, but scavs move around in a very ai type of way

The more you play the game the more obvious it is. Scavs often do not have backpacks or body Armor. They rarely have helmets, and they often have colourful jackets that PMCs don’t have. This combination from long range can reveal whether it’s a PMC or Scav.
