You can only do quest specific stuff on your pmc "Marking/looting specific quest objectives" but you can loot items that need to be found in raid for example: Therapist car repair quest requires spark plugs and car batteries you can get.

If you want to avoid players then try not run into where you recently heard shooting… you can also kind of tell if it’s a geared player by the gun… like pistol compared to a mpx
