while I don't really like this kind of questions because it mostly boils down to your playstyle, and if someone would recommend you m1 he would probably mean meta m1 with 50 recoil so you could spam it like semi auto, while you probably can only obtain the stock one which plays more like hunter... yes, shotgun is definitely a good option for factory because most enemies will be within 25m distance

magnum buckshot, flechette or ap20 would be better choice of ammo obviously

from my experience there are only two types of players you'll meet in factory - naked guys running with ks23 or pistols doing tasks, or tanks wearing full body class 5 or slicks and altyns... also doing tasks

yes, tarkov is unnecessarily complicated, a lot of things are just bad, from game design perspective, if you want to dissect it's aspects, like inventory mgmt, net code, balance, etc. - most of the parts in isolation are just terrible, but in conjunction they offer very unique package that many people like very much

I bought tarkov in 2018(maybe 19) because a friend was begging me too. I hated it, too hard, died to scavs, didn't know what I was doing etc. Uninstalled and moved on. I decided to try again start of this wipe as a solo, but this time took my time, learned the game via youtube and the wiki, figured out why or how I was dying and how I can avoid it next time. Now its one of the only games I play, it's fucking incredible once you understand it. Even if it does fuck me right in the tightie every night
