I'd also say- start with Factory, Woods, or Customs. Starting on Interchange is crazy because players there are trying to farm the boss for a late game quest, and get high level items (GPUs). Customs will have players your level and its smaller (?) than Interchange so its easier to learn. Same applies to Factory and Woods, except Woods is huge

You've probably heard this before @hallow island but it's more about the ammo than the gun. I'd stay away from the AKs with "S" in their name, as this means they have a folding stock which impacts your recoil. I'd also use any ammo that starts with a "B"- BS being your best bet then followed by BT and BP

they kind of all do tbh- between scav camp and the railway exfil on interchange there are 5 jaeger caches which is kind of crazy, but I think interchange is tough for most players- I actually like woods for lucrative scav runs. I can usually get sugar and a few valuables without having to see any pmcs

op-sks with ps ammo is the thing to start with imo. you can throw a Zenit-BelOMO PSO-1 4x24 scope on there and you have a good lil sniper. I think most people feel like that's what you should start with.

I'd do an op-sks with the dovetail mount and throw that Zenit scope on there
the main advantage to this is you can top load so you can always have a full mag even after firing a few shots (just throw a few bullets in your pockets), and the 7.62x39 ammo has decent stopping power
shotguns like the mp-155 is also considered a great equalizer- given the "leg meta" (aiming at the legs with high damage/lowpen rounds bc they're unarmored and killing people). You can put in the magnum buckshot and an 8-round mag and you'll be in a pretty good spot
