Do whatever you feel like doing. The easiest way to make cash right now is to run caches. But many players are doing that so you'll bump into some. Play Scav runs so you've got nothing to lose. Buy cheap weapons and armour and play slowly if you want a proper experience. Camp exfils if you don't mind being mindnumbingly bored and possibly not see anybody because they don't use that one.

Honestly, i recommend selling anything you aren't using in the next raid. You don't need 20 rigs, or 10 guns, or 8 rows of ammo. Keep quest and hideout items if you absolutely want to. But weapons and gear i'd vendor as often as possible.

You should look what type of ammo is in it, some scavs on woods spwan with BT ammo which is pog, I'd keep the ammo

Yeah, check the ammo first. Even if it's not good ammo some traders give more for ammo. Sell guns/gear to Skier if you can, anything you can't sell to Mechanic. Skier doesn't buy ammo so if you leave ammo in the gun you don't get rubles for them
