You can also craft it on a workbench (maybe level 2?). Brings the price down by half at least.
Just run 2 guns if you need player kills. Use an SKS with PS to drop scavs and switch to your shotty to get the PMC's.

actually a similar FRUSTRATING scenario happened to me, I was coming from skeleton going to RUAF roadblock, I heard a scav near their usual spawns, but because I was wearing GSSh I thought he was right behind the bushes, but turned out he was behind the brick building, I saw a head behind bushes and shot it, turned out it was a tire, and the scav pushed and killed me with his shotgun while I was reloading

Shouldnโt be losing money chadding. Youโre being careless if thatโs the case. Or youโre running solo and that makes it much harder too. My Chad squad survives about 70% of the time.
And we never get wiped usually so the shit always gets ditched.
So gotta find yourself a good group. Having people to play off and help with fights is the real money maker. Playing solo is so difficult unless youโre a rat, or a Chad god like Hyperrat or Lvndmark
