very simply you put together your character and go into raids, loot and exfil. What you mainly need to watch out for are other pmc's or players bcs they will carry heavy armor and better weapons, there are also bots called scavs which kinda j walk around but the back packs can have any item in the game but you'll mainly kill them for quests. scavs can also be controlled by players but will have very shitty equipment

Regularly check in on the trader's quests and accept all of them. Early quests will mainly send you to Customs, so I would suggest learning that. Use "Offline mode" to learn maps and practise the game, you get back all gear you bring, but you lose everything you find and no progress is saved from the offline raids - perfect for practising and learning.
I would suggest any weapon that shoots 7.62 PS ammo or 9.19 pst gzh ammo early on, such as most pistols (9.19) and the SKS and certain AKs (7.62). Try and find a weapon you like and stick with it for a while, as it allows you to get decent with how it handles while you learn everything else.
Obviously playing with other people will help a lot too, I'm sure you can find someone here or in any other tarkov community fairly easily if you want to.
