from my experience, don't try to force kills, its the best advice I know of, even with that early pistol kill task, unless you are just an amazing aim and trigger puller, you are best to just let it happen naturally as you are playing the game normally

Assuming you have access to flea you can purchase fuel there. Spend it crafing other for-profit things like VOG-25s, you should end up with empty fuel cans. Empty fuel cans can be combined with Bolts + Bolt Nuts + Metal Scissors into Mags or Grenade cases.
