As someone mentioned earlier, picking your fights is important. Sure, sometimes you have no choice, but while I was low level, with shit gear and ammo, if i saw a PMC that was geared, I would prone in a bush and not even engage. My whole purpose was completing my tasks, so I could level, to then buy better ammo.

best way to do it, or at least the way i do it, i just raided and eventually either when i died or whatever I'd get a fracture. Then on the heal screen I just only healed everything EXCEPT the fracture, then went into factory and kept getting kills. If you die after getting the fracture, just make sure to not heal it and you can keep trying
