The number of times you will die wearing a good/great helmet will far outweigh the number of times that it saves you. YES it can save you but many many more times it won’t be a factor in your death or will have failed to protect you. Therefore I don’t spend much $ on helmets.

Have you tried looking up pestily and deadlyslob beginner guides on YouTube? Thay should give a super solid start. And then use the wiki for their detailed maps and explore offline mode. Map knowledge is key. And ammo is key. You get those two down, golden.

First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not gear. Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on, at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.

the vss is a marksmen rifle, but it was designed to be used in urban areas. It was intented to be used for clearing rooms as well as engaging tagets out to 400m effectively.

the 9x39 round is a thicc ass round. With the vss/vals rate of fire it will BURN through any armor you come across like nothing.

In tarkov, you gotta have ALOT of skill to use it as a marksmen rifle, so most people use it as an SMG.

@grim night Tarkov servers have been overloaded the last couple weeks due to the massive influx of players due to twitch popularity. BSG is actively working on installing more servers as we speak, have patience and the game will go back to 1-3mins of matching queue time. They are extremely uncomfortable/overwhelmed at the moment with the mass influx of players , this game wasnt meant to handle that yet. You can keep up with their updates via #eft-announcements and Twitter. If you are matching for more than 10mins it's either the server or a matching bug, back out and try again or try another map. Make sure your servers are on autoselct within client or select a lot more servers in client. You will also experience trouble with bugs in stash and fleamarket cause of server stress, this stuff happens in a beta.
