I dont suggest pistols for new players. Sure they are cheap but hard to kill things, at least for me. So I would sell all pistol stuff and 9mm ammo...

Especially for standard players that are relatively new, as in no cases, I would suggest sell everything you are not going to use in the next 2-3 raids... With some excepptions like meds and maybe some food water for between raids.

With the bosses, at least on customs. I can normally tell they ae in the dorms simply by the number of voices and walkign around in the dorms. If it sounds really crowded, chances are Reshala is there.

If you have issues getting a sherpa head down to Looking for group there are plenty of experienced players. Scav boss's usually are only in specific areas. You will not know unless you know what guns they are running or you hear a lot of activity in those locations. @runic nimbus

Cheap way to store some ammo though would be to buy a pistol case. Stores pistols magazines and ammo. Last I looked only 30K or so on flea market. Takes 4 spaces (2x3) and provides 12 (3x4)

@inner sentinel Oh... and stop and listen frequently . Most of my easy interchange kills come from hearing the other person first. Generally one of you will hear the other first, and more than likely that person will win.

Interchange can be EXTREMELY simple. I do interchange runs while watching a movie, or TV.
There is a lot of loot and very little PMC or scav activity in the garage. Or you can run the preimeter and collect hidden stashes.
Both of those are low risk runs that can make 200K or so on average and when you get good only takes 10 minutes, roughly.

Is there a way to prevent my hideout upgrades from using found in raid items? For example I had 2 found in raid spark plugs, needed five for an upgrade of hideout so I bought five. Then when I upgraded it used 2 found in raid and only 3 from the 5 I've bought.

I would highly recommend maximizing your time as a scav. When you are new, its hard to understand where on a map is important. As you do your runs, always look for bodies and pay attention to where they are and if they are scav vs pmc. You will soon learn places to avoid on your pmc

Some helmets are better off not wearing, like the Kolpak.

For me. Anything lower than tier 3 amr isnt worth it i would pick up the steel helmet ( its got a high rio chance with can save your life ) and pick up 6b amr or uley amr rig

@tame sierra toggle zooms are in a lot of scopes, BUT, view sensitivity does not change between them. It makes the zoomed out view feel WAY too slow. I suggest using a back up sight over zoom toggling.

Quests, both player-given and dynamically generated, are intended to be a big part of Escape from Tarkov.
There are many quests in Escape from Tarkov. Some require you to pick stuff up for certain traders, while others require you to kill other operators or mark vehicles and specific places.
Quests are the fastest way of gaining XP in Escape from Tarkov. Completing one will often reward you with thousands, if not tens of thousands of XP points.
On top of the experience, quests reward you with:

Trader Reputation. By gaining trader reputation you unlock new trader loyalty levels. Each time you unlock a new loyalty level you will be able to purchase a large number of new items from that trader.
Quest locked items. Some items can only be purchased from a trader after you complete their relevant quest.

Go to your "Tasks" tab. Your quest items have their own inventory there. Just like normal items, you lose them if you die. You even have a stash space specifically for quest items.

First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in
other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not
gear. Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav
behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on,
at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then
you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.
