@lone hull First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not gear. Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on, at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.

@lone hull theres different oppinions on this, but with most early quests on customs learning it cannot be wrong.
You can learn interchange instead, but theres no early quests there so I'm not sure why you should.

Because many new people coming in here are flat broke and don't know how to make $

Interchange is easy to sneak around in the back corridors and loot PC and other hardware and sell it to make $.

Don't even need to go into the main mall and can avoid fights.

So learn interchange because it will have tasks there in the future and it holds a ton of the items required for tasks/hideouts. Those items are also the best selling items.

If your budget is low, you can get a pretty good gun for fairly cheap

I think my current budget gun is 14-15k for the gun, 22k for the attachments

depending upon optics it can be slightly more if you are using a 2x or a red dot or the plain jane 1p69/1p59 scope

I found interesting the fact that once I reached the extraction and the game did fail me... 2 weeks ago (in customs old gas station). @lusty linden First thing to do is RESET EXPECTATIONS. Doesn’t matter how much or how well you do in other shooters. This is a knowledge game. You will die and die due to lack of experience not gear. Yeah, your AK has an Elcan which has a 1x zoom option. That covers your CQB, dont need the pistol.
