Most players I find use high penetration bullets. So really it's a small ricochet chance your depending on alot of the time. That and unless you have a face sheild people can go for your face fairly easily when fighting face to face.

Usually i go for the SSh-68, since its not that expensive, but i get killed often enough by a hit to the top of the head anyway. This time it was the 6B47 which does protect the nape, but i got killed by a shot to that region as if i wasnt wearing any? Idk what else to do honestly

Scav rounds I find tend to be more flesh based so I rather keep my vitals safe and give an arm or a leg if I screw up.

No. but they do have a sorta side vision and depends on where you stand. if you have a bush they have a harder time seeing I find.

It can be exploited though.

And I think I know what you mean about sniping scavs. There could be side scavs... and generally they looking anywhere near you. unless you got a solid bush cover will spot you out.

i kinda try to stay away from bushes when engaging scavs tbh. I find that they can see through bushes super well, definitely better than i can. Usually die because i cant see a thing while they gun me down easy

There might be a bit of code that helps them spot at a distance less covered targets aimming at them just so sniping isn't super easy. I think most times though it's my visablity being to high.

Yes for shooter, and no. It's rated to protect against direct hits from bad ammo, but has a chance to deflect good ammo.

I would suggest taking your scav to factory and run straight to the exfil and sell/use the equipment that he had on him. But factory is pretty cancerous atm i feel like, and its not super easy even just running through

Hey I haven't played this game in a while as I got frustrated at the way bullet/armor interaction works in this game, where some types of bullets do pretty much 0 damage and that all bullets have a -chance- to penetrate armor and doing damage, instead of doing a flat if not reduced amount of damage always, which seems horribly RNG to me. Is this still the case, and do they ever intend to change it? or is that just how they want the game to be?
Especially the idea that I can encounter an enemy that has such high level armor that he's quite literally unkillable by me even with multiple headshots, and the only thing I can do is pray I can run away in time.

m995 I feel like deflects more then I like. and gun only matters in where recoil and how it aims down sights for a marjor part... I tend to favour m80-61 rounds. 762 if going cheaper. working on trying svds with snb or 7n1. those rounds I more reliably kill in 5 shots.
First time lab runs you can do offline first to keep your key and get a feel for your gun vs raiders.

The only real ammunition that has no chance to pen are the lower velocity hunting rounds and hollow points, both are meant to damage flesh not armor.
So if you run multi-purpose ammunition, noone is invincible, their TTK is just higher than is safe.
That and the only helmets that can stand up to high powered rounds not only block vision, they block their hearing.

I tend to favour sks early game. in alot of cases it can kill in 5 rounds for most targets. until you come up against better geared players.

@lean obsidian I usually suggest customs because the first tasks you get concentrate on that map a bit. Factory is easy to load and good combat practice. Interchange is so loot dence that you can avoid everyone and get a decent haul of valuables without combat.

@west pilot Do some hatchet runs and just look for people. watch what they do and where they go. sneak and stalk and eventually you can find routes and places of cover you can take advantage of. Work on being efficient and stay aware of your weapon and what it can kill.

Scav runs start mid raid. You may be killing already weak players. Test guns offline to get used to recoil and bullet drop. @gentle zenith

in fact it's a bit boring when you are 4-5 man squad becuase often map is limited and there will be only 1-2 pmc versus you
aka outnumbered and if they are hatchling's or pistols it's pretty much PvE i find that quite boring and pref solo play, but each to it's own.
i guess squad in labs is probably OK since raiders are strong if you don't meta door/corner camp em

Speaking of which, what is the easiest tells of a player scav vs a NPC scav? Just got screwed by one who was blending in with a group of NPC scavs, noted they had a second weapon a moment too late.

Well, for starters like you had noticed, a second weapon. In addition, scavs won't just run unless provoked by a player or player scav.
In addition to this, if I scav engages you without saying anything, or aims at you without a word, it's most definitely a player scav.
Lastly, learn to watch scav movement. They move in a stiff manner and look forward with the gun level.

Yeah, this player was obviously trying to look like an NPC, but they got my attention cause they moved a bit weirdly, aimed in and looked at them, noticed the 2nd gun then BAM my head was missing suddenly. Guess I just shouldn't hesitate

Oh yeah, I was running around as a hatchling awhile back doing a task when a shot went over my head. Stopped and wiggled towards them, they flashed their flashlight and went on my merry way, was nice.
Okay that video will just not play for me, got horrid bandwidth out in rural Texas, and it seems Streamable is a bandwidth hog

Hatchet run or go scav and re-use gear and don't buy thing.
I manage to get dosh that way.

my issue is the hearing cuz when i kill someone and loot is normally when i die ;-; like earlier i killed 2 geared guys and a hatchling then got killed by a 4th i didn't even know was there

So i snuck close to it and managed to kill propably 3 of reshalas guards and two random scavs
making it out unharmed and looting a couple nice helmets

Not to be that guy, but deadly slob, worrun_ are a good starting point
I heard veritas is really good too
But worrun_ is super aggressive and can learn tips.
I'd write down what they do that surprise you and areas to go. Then go practice on offline mode with a billion scavs and go as fast as possible
Then bump up difficulty if you're killing them too quick
