If you use insurance you're all but guaranteed to get your kit back in PVE so don't wory too much about losing gear.
The SKS and the AKS 74 U are imo your best choices when starting out, they pack quite a punch and decent ammo is easy to come by, either from ground spawns or used by AI. Look for T-45 and PS ammo for 762x39 (SKS) and PS, PP, BT and BP for 545x39 for the AKS 74U.
The big trick to AI is to break line of sight, always bring a tourniquet, bandage and medkit of choice in a raid, a spare stack of ammo in your secure container doesn't hurt either.

I'd get at least a paca to prevent scavs one shotting you with buckshot to the chest. I'd also grab a GGSH headset and ratnik helmet. Try putting your headset on and off with enemies walking nearby to learn just how important headsets can be. The Ratnik is very good for price/performance, covering your ears with a high ricochet chance while allowing you to put flashlights and night vision on it.

You'll want to upgrade when you unlock the flea market and higher level traders but the above should be viable enough to make your way between spawn and extract.

otherwise very soon you will find out you had those items for a quest or barter and need them but you sold them and finding some of them, like car batteries, green abtteries, lion, paracord, military cable etc can be REALLY tough now

there is a quest for example that requiores you to get 15 small tushonka or 5x of 3 different ciggarete types

Hello! I have been having issues with the colour of the graphics, I feel like the contrast is extremely low, is there a way to increase it?

Should be a guaranteed spawn but given that it 's early wipe, everybody is trying to get that watch and the key, someone beat you to it.
Try going to the truck late in the raid to see if anyone else opened it, works like a charm for quite a few early wipe quests.

do search mission quest and you'll receive a compass that might help you with navigating around

though by the time you'll probably know most landmarks

just be careful not to wander too far - if you see a similar sign you know it's time to head left instead

it's mostly around this area since you end up behind checkpoint

these PMC spawns (marked yellow) are usually very disorienting so pulling out a compass might help to not stumble upon mines

generally it's not the safe side if there's no water

most notably this area should be a good indicator, usually you can also see convoy from that far

speaking of old sawmill, I'd be vary of it as PMCs often camp there

old town spawns are probably the worst, had some guy/scav ran up to me and fire at me from southern west side
