Use the flea timer and not the trader timer. Change your flea market's default filter settings to include barters (you click the cogwheel near the top left of the flea UI and then make sure you select the checkbox to remember/save those preferences; make sure Exclude Barters is unchecked). Then instead of refreshing (either with f5 or the refresh button; both of which have an internal cooldown), use TAB-spam. When in the flea, pressing TAB brings up your character UI. Pressing TAB a second time will bring you back to the flea, on the same item page you were on before, and with your "default" filter options applied (this is why setting the default is important because otherwise the barter won't show up). With this strategy, you'll be able to refresh quicker than F5/refresh button can and should give yourself the best chance to get the item before it's out of stock.

The flea timer is still something like 45 seconds ahead of the actual restock so you'll be sitting there spamming TAB for about 45 seconds until you're finally able to buy it.

db4tarkov.com is m favourite resource. it's got a really convenient UI. when you search an item, there will be up to 2 little numbers on the item's tooltip. those are "how many you need FIR" and "how many you need non-FIR" ("need" as in need for quests/hideout upgrades).
that will give you a quick sense of whether you should hang onto something.
if you pay for the site, you can make an account and it can keep track of all the quests/hideout upgrades you've completed. but if you don't pay, you'll jsut have to click on items and sanity check whether you've already handed in those items / how many you've handed in already to get an exact number. but its a good starting point.

the site's UI also offers a lot of other really helpful information on every item, but i'll let you explore it for yourself.

there are a handful of extracts in the game that require you to shoot a green flare into the sky in order to use the extract. if you don't shoot the flare (or you don't shoot it correctly), you'll get shot at by an invisible sniper when you go into the extract zone. (there's one of these extracts on Streets [klemov] and one of them on Ground Zero [forget the name of that one]; not sure if there's others).
then there's RNG extracts on certain maps where you know if they are on or not for that raid by there being a green flare permanently smoking on the ground near the extract. those ones cannot be enabled by a player. it's either on or off for the whole raid. (RUAF roadblock on customs is one of these)

generally for woods I either take an sks or a bolty(really any bolt action), you may have mixed results with an ak

so just figured this out, I was tagged and cursed for not wearing a bag on ground zero, had armor, rig and helmet, and a gun, but for some reason the scavs just hunted me, I thought it used to just be that it was a rig and a weapon?

First wipe. Never played kbm before so I’m still getting used to movement and stuff. But I’m fully addicted. What should my goals be by the end of the wipe? Lvl wise/pmc kills wise stuff like that

This is corny, but honestly your goal should just be to have fun playing. This is a game that can be really frustrating and stressful if you don't approach it with the right mindsets. It can be consuming and addicting regardless of your mindset though so a lot of people fall into the category of being both addicted and not really enjoying their playtime.

just have fun, learn the maps- don't set unrealistic expectations- otherwise you will burn out

Learning the maps is a really good one actually. Good call.

If you actually stick with the game for most of the wipe and return for a future wipe, having good map knowledge (even just a few of the maps) will be a HUGE advantage going into that next wipe.

I am enjoying it so far. I die probs ~75%~ of the time I run into another pmc but to be honest it makes the few times I’ve made it out with another players kit feel so much better haha, like the lows are low dying all the time but making it out completely looted is a super high

tarkov has very low lows, but when you get that one good raid chef's kiss

A common pitfall people will run into is "gear fear". The idea that you are scared of losing good gear so you either just
a) keep the good stuff in you inventory forever, or
b) play a very different (super passive) playstyle when wearing good gear
This is a very difficult mindset to shake, but will really help your overall enjoyment if you can get over it. The main tip people give for this is to just use the "good stuff" right away and then play somewhat aggressively with it. Get used to losing good stuff and you'll become somewhat desensitized to it due to the realization that it really didn't matter. This will make all the "lows" of the game a lot less impactful to you.
