Bring a couple of smoke grenades and like 6 regular ones, cheapest from prapor. When you hear steps close by or see movement, frag that direction with at least two nades, you’ll at least make them either move away or reveal their position and you can start flanking.

Cover your flanks if needed with smoke and move around the zone go back and forth covering the angles within the outpost.

It’s also about in game confidence. Not always everything applies to all players, make sure your gun build provides that amount of confidence needed to defend yourself and survive or get the jump on a 2-man and win the fight. Run tests on off line raids as much as possible.

woods is hard for everyone, the best advice I can give for learning a map is 'focus one map at at ime' use a 2nd monitor with the map up while playing, run each map in off line 1-2 times with the map up and learning

try to learn not just locations but player movements and hot-spots for loot and engagments

(Crack house and Dorms and Stronghold on customs is all good examples of this)

ground zero and factory fairly high, still learning the hot spots/high loot areas for ground zero. customs i’m getting much better at and reserve is prob the only other one with moderate confidence. my main issue on maps i don’t know as well is figuring out where i am on the map and how to avoid hot areas to get to extract

Customs is one of the easier maps to learn actually. Keep your map open while running it and try to memorize some general landmarks. As far as loot, Dorms are perfect, but keep in mind that you will get action unless you are there super early or super late. What I do is, if I spawn relatively close to dorms, I just run in, use up some good keys and get the hell out :))

@olive yoke As PMC SOLO -> yes. As Scav you'll get bad scav karma and they'll attack you. If you don't attack scavs, only shoot back at those that shoot at you -> good scav karma.

It should count, even if it didn't give the quest progression beep. You can mark multiple things at once but only the timer for the latest marker will display.
Check your task tab if it didn't complete, check if you still have a marker in your inventory left if you're trying again. Also try opening your inventory to reset the interaction if you don't get the promt to plant stuff, helps when placing multiple items.
It's also possible you picked up your marker after planting it

With the snow you don't need night vision as much, a flashlight should do the trick. Other than that, the PNV 10 night vision sold by Skier 2 mounted on something like a ratnik or the head strap N 15 night vision (peacekeeper 3) is a good pick if you can get it cheap. Beware flea markup tho, can get expensive if you don't have the traders for it.
The N 15 is the better night vision but the PNV 10 can be mounted to a helmet instead of just a couple straps. The Skul lock from PK2 is also decent but it's expensive and lacks field of view in favour of better preformance at long range.

the problem that I have, and its random, soimetimes the game freezes dsuring the countdown of the raid start, it unfreezes when thje countdown ends, and i have no sounds at raid start but the sound gradually comes back little by little in like 10s, it also lags for the very beginning of the raid

the problem im having beyond just having the map out is knowing where I am and I feel extremely discouraged. like i dont even know how after 300 or 600 hours of it I would know what Im doing

with 8 or so maps and all having different loot spawns, scav spawns, and being thrown in with nothing i am overwhelmed

the best advice for learning/navigating maps is to get familiar with big landmarks and use them to orient yourself

offline raids can be a big help if you're not comfortable yet

For sure. Like I said above, your best bet is to use the offline raid system to learn them if you have nobody to teach you first hand. Or utilitize the beginner looking for group chats here to find someone to help you

Map knowledge is king in Tarkov

You will always die to someone with more hours than you because they will always know how to outplay you. So learning in a safe environment will be the route that pisses you off the least

Especially since many players currently playing have no less than 1k hours in the game as it is

If you have lost all of your beginning loot…. Do what you can to get a cheap kit together and run offline over and over on one map (I suggest ground zero), until you’re comfortable with it. Then hop in online raid. Find a good scav run to do to loot up safely. If you HAVE to… before you go too far… you can reset

yea you can't overstate the importance of learning a good loot route that you're comfortable with. Once you know how to reliably generate roubles, gear fear is much easier to let go

Even then, any delay asking "is this you" is an advantage the enemy has over you

It's why many solo players usually kill 2-3 in a 5 man group before dying

Sadly with how long Tarkov has been out though, there truly is no real good starter advice

If every hour you put into the game, the 5k player puts in another 300 hours on the wipe.

So learning maps and committing them to knowledge is about the best you can do

you play to have fun, its a game, if you dont have fun solo, dont play solo, if you hate a map completely, dont play that map, learn other maps, wipe over wipe if you like the game you will build tolerance to things you dont like in the game
