In the moment I thought it was cos the money was in my secure container but I died while trying to move it out. What did I do wrong there?

scav runs are just you being inserted into pmc runs after a certain time, if pmc runs don't exist, scav runs don't exist

200k is fairly insignificant, and your offline test is not a good test because scavs shoot bullets with 10 pen

You would have had a horrible time finding one otherwise, it’s a special item and the only place i can even think you can get one otherwise is as starting gear from PKs first task and the shelf in grey at sawmill on woods

You should use eft-ammo to figure out what's good and what isn't for ammo
For barter items, because nobody but you knows where you're at in terms of quests or hideout, or what barters/crafts you're trying to save for, you have 2 options. It's otherwise impossible to know, without significant experience or asking other people every time, what you'll need anytime soon, or what sells for substantial money to other players.

Option 1) Set a particular goal - maybe two or three hideout upgrades you want and get your list of like 5-10 items together. Sell everything else. This is the most "to hell with inventory management" approach, and you'll certainly sell things that you'll need again or could have sold for more, but you'll spend much more of your time in-raid.

Option 2) Check everything using https://tarkov-market.com/ and the info it provides for quest/hideout/barter/crafting requirements and for flea prices. Then you can decide what things you'll need soon enough, and which items sell for enough, to hold onto. This is quicker in the long run and more profitable, but is tedious.

For example, if you were checking 'Bolts' you would type it in and see this screen. You could then decide if any of those quests or hideout upgrades are close enough to save for, or if the extra money you'd get on the flea would make it worthwhile to hold onto until you hit level 15

I hated hearing this as advice but 3 things that will help in fights is moving slower predicting player rotations and killing scavs offline

also map knowledge so you know where people can come from + know how you can rotate etc etc

staying at the same spot while fighting can be good depending on situation but can be a death wish as well

the amount of quests this game got feels so overwhealming, should i do all of them or are some totally skippable?

Some are skippable, some are required and have quest chains

Either way it helps with leveling, unlocking certain ammo, weapons, gear, etc

If you get burnt out just go do some normal runs without worrying a bunch about quests, and do them at your pace

best tip for fighting is to have the advantage in information. try to be the first to hear/see the other person and make a ambush plan. try not to run all the time so you can hear people better and so they cant hear you as much

It’s hit and miss, I’ve got a bunch of streets keys, sometimes they’re picked of everything worth more than 30k when I loot them, sometimes I can pull a triple bitcoin

If you walk through spawn points on raids that happens every now and again you can find a massive pile of shit they presumably discard lmao

Just scav it, run around and get hte feel of it while looking at a map. Go offline if you need to figure something out (like how to get from one end of the kilmov shopping mall to the other)

like when u go thru and do some woods/shoreline quest lines, you start to realize where ppl are going to be going on those maps... along with where exfils are, so you can make good guesses at where players are likely to be (along with where good loot spots are)

so u can have an idea of ppl's likely pathing, know where to go if you want to fight, or where to avoid if you don
