@warm salmon in general there are a couple things that can effect it, which are "outside" of your control in-raid.

1. Bad hitboxes (helmets don't actually cover what it looks like, and can make the enemy's head look bigger than it actually is)
2. Bad terrain hitboxes (sometimes you can hit rocks etc. which have no visual texture)
3. Ricochets (a random chance based on the angle at which you hit the armor)
4. Failure to pen the armor
5. Damage mittigation (with m855a1 even if you pen your bullet, it is impossible to get a kill over 110m against class 4 helmets as the bullet doesn't deal enough damage to 1 shot headshot. The range can be changed a very slight bit with different muzzle velocities.
6. Hitreg bug, sometimes targets become actually invulnerable for you specifically. Very rare though, and usually only happens to scavs or disconnected people afaik.

There also used to be a bug that caused your bullets to just not do damage even though they register until you reload, but I’m not sure if that’s in the game still and it was fairly uncommon.

Also space I’m 99% sure that the visual side of hit reg is on the client side but the actual damage is server side. For several reasons not least of all the amount of cheats that would enable, race conditions, desync, ect having the damage portion of hit reg being client side

Wondering if someone could help me my game keeps crashing while trying to load into raid for some reason. I repaired tarkov several times and it keeps saying theres a problem with the games integrity. I formatted my disk. installed updated drivers, and lowered my graphic settings on tarkov itself. fence standing is the rep for the fence trader but also your scav rep, it can be upped from quests, running scav rounds, and from doing car extracts and coop evacs

higher it is the less your cooldown on scav mode and also your scav has better chance to roll better random starter items on its kit

thats a different problem. Right click your weapon and press "Edit Presset" (you can only do that if you have workbench 1. There you can add the handguard to your weapon and then press auto assamble

Scav karma

doesn't really matter when you started playing, I started in feb 2018, yet I've got only 2000 hours in-game. Played a bit every wipe, but never too much. Yet I know about more mechanics of the game than most with 10k hours. It's just a matter of where you prioritise your time.

Force yourself to fight run some factory, if you find nice gear and don’t have something specific in mind run it within 10 raids instead of letting it gather dust

Dying doesn’t really matter you can always replace the gear and find the stuff you had again. It gets less scary the more it happens, you just have to accept it.

yeah exactly, researching good loot pools on the map you want to go in will help you easily make money.. and just think of it that the risk and thrill of losing your gear is part of the fun. And eventually when you hoard gear/money, your gonna have so much to the point that the game gets a bit dry and boring and at that point its not even fun anymore to go out in raids since you would'nt care about dropping a 1 dollar bill when you have millions is how I think of it
